Despite his cockiness, Daikin managed to impress Satomi in his abilities. They managed to follow the merchant, discovering who the merchant was, what the dangerous chemical used was, and who the merchant was buying from.
After almost being discovered, Satomi was able to find a quick place for them to hide without being discovered.
When presenting the Hokages with this information, Daikin almost took all the credit, but when Sasuke gave him a doubtful look, he grudgingly admitted Satomi pulled her weight, too.
