These are just my random, and often intense, thoughts on pieces of the world we live in. A lot of it will be about anime or manga, though some of it will be about polotics, social aspects, or just me and my life. I often get frustrated, and need to blow off steam. So, try to take this with a grain of salt. I never mean to offend people, but I can be harshly honest, and I really want people to open their eyes, and maybe notice something they didn't know before.

OK, basic stats on me...
Gender: Female
Age: 21
Location: Texas
Relationship stats: Single
Family: Two parents, Four younger siblings
Occupation: College student/ Cashier

Also, if you have any questions on anything I've written, or about me, feel free to PM me. I am very open, and do not mind questions, even personal ones. I also really appreciate comments. Opinions and ideas are welcome, just please try to keep it objective. Thanks in advance, and enjoy!

Kyo vs Yuki

OK, so WHY does everyone drool over Kyo? I mea, sure he's handsome, enthusiastic, and all that, but he's so angsty! He looses all his fights with Yuki, he gets upset over the littlest thing, he has no clue how to talk to a girl, and he's always seems to be cursing, mostly about Yuki.

While Yuki is suave, calm, alawys wins, nows how to handle people, hardly ever gets upset, and seems to take just about everythign in stride.

So why does Kyo end up with the girl. And why does Yuki seem to sit back and just let Kyo romance Tohru? Yuki is hands down a better all-around guy than Kyo (At least in my opinion).

Perhaps this has to do with the fact that Tohru likes sob stories. I mean, I almost cried over momijis mom, and I hurt for Hatori, and I felt the need to help and shelter Kyo once his true form was revealed. I would have worked to break the spell to, but I don't think I would start falling for the guy who can beraly communicate with me, when a fine, engaging young man was in the same house!

OK, you get the point, Tohru should have wound up with Yuki. Fruits Basket is still proabably the best Anime/Manga out there, so why am I complaining, right? I'll stop now and let you get back to doing something useful. Thanks for reading this random outburst. Your opinionated friend, DragonRider. :)

You want to know about College?

You want to know about college?
You know, most people don’t see the irony of the hours of late study, the apparent lack of a stable social life, the grade-hogging, the sweat, the tears, the paperwork, and the stress, that goes into getting to college, all so you can go through entrance hazing, study longer, lose more sleep, have a less stable social life, and be hit, and hit on my more seniors. I mean how much is a girl supposed to take?
However, while I do see these ironies, I do not voice them in the presence of my supposed superiors. I simply nod while people rant about scholarships I know I’m not going to get, rather than pointing out that, despite popular belief, I’m not superwoman, nor do my grades always imply that I am.
Rather than ask “Is there any part of my life they don’t want to know about?” when filling in applications, I rack my brain for anything that would count as “community service” and try to estimate how many other kids n my school have the same skin color I have. I bet if they could, they would have a section with questions like “hours spent in sexual activity”, “time spent having fun”, “number of factors implying a minority of some kind”, “time spent annually in restrooms” and “number of minutes being idle per day”. There is nothing like a college application to make one regret having what form of a measly social life that a few moments ago you thought didn’t exist. It also makes you think about vowing off other things like sleeping and eating for more useful activities like cleaning up national parks and studying obscure branches of science. Also, no matter how many black, Mexican, or Chinese friends you have, you will instantly feel criminalized for being a “white non-Hispanic”. If you’re a guy, that’s worse. O, and no matter how much time you have spent doing chores around the house, cleaning your room, eating your vegetables, or reading the dictionary, you only get credit for something that can be analyzed, verified, and certified till it falls over and dies from exhaustion.
And once you are done with the humiliating application, they tell you that there is an “application fee”. These people want twenty-five bucks just to look at the paperwork! And You haven’t even picked a major yet!
All this, all the responsibility speeches and lectures on maturity can be a bit much. I mean, how can you expect me to take my entire future into my own hands, when they don’t even trust you with the car keys! At least, not without asking you a dozen questions about where you’re going, who with, etc. Maybe they should create an application for that too…

New fan

OK, so I'll admit it, I was only introduced to anime about a year ago, but I've been hooked ever since. Natuarally, I've enjoyed the wide range offerd now-a-days and have gravitated more towards the newer stuff like Fruits Basket, DNAngel and Anima+. Many anime-lovers think me odd when I admit I've never really watched Inuyasha, and am only on about episode 40 or so of Naruto, that I don't feel like Sailor Moon is my style, and I don't even know the plot of Gundam.

But seriously, does that make me LESS of a fan? I can describe the personalities of all the Sohmas, and which zodiac animal is which. I can tell Riku from Risa. I know which anima carries which symbol. I know about ten Ninja hand symbols and so on. My library has experienced a recent influx of mangas, and I've been raiding my best friends shelfs for more. I spend hours loitering at bookstores reading mangas. Even the kids at school keep asking why I'm always reading my books backwards and whether I really speak japanese.

so what if I didn't read my first manga or watch my first anime till I was seventeen.I loved it the moment I saw it, and have continued to love it, despite the school kids thinking I'm a freak and my parents trying to convince me that all japanamation is of the devil. I've even got my sibs hooked on Avatar.

I would have liked to be there fromt he beggining, when Pokemon was just taking off and Naruto was all new. But I'm here now and I'm ready to party! So get ready for a whole new wave of fans, cause the DragonRider and her friends are here to stay!!
