I did something my friends said was wild, crazy, and dangerous today... I went to meet a man I'd only ever talked to online before. I was not molested, murdered, or buried alive. LOL. However, I did learn some valuable lessons about the differences between and online chat room, and a face-to-face conversation.
This man had asked me to come visit him (something I’m not used to doing, but at least I got to pick the time, which made me feel better). So, I took a friend after class today, and we went. I was all confidence.. me and my friend were joking about boys and stuff, until I actually saw him….
My first problem was how to introduce myself. I mean, did I use my real name, or my screen name? (he knew them both, but normally, I’m used to my friends giving ME a name. LOL) But, he looked at me a minute, then stood up and hugged me! After that I was much more relaxed. However, eye-contact, body language and so forth, are VERY different. This was someone I was comfortable with online, but I felt as I was starting over again… almost like meeting a stranger. Then somebody brought up Gundam, which he and my friend both knew, and I didn’t.
Yet, he wound up showing the same kind spirit I’d seen in the chats, and Just had that unexplainable “coolness” factor that makes you want to spend more time around someone. I gave him my number before I left, and I’m kind of hoping he calls me. In any case, I’m glad I had this opportunity, and I hope I have many more like it. Now, if I can get my friend to stop going on and on and ON about Gundum and how cute this man was... LOL. (JK, we were both chatting it up non-stop on the way home. Thats what I get for drinking soda again.)
So.. this is me the last few days...
