Been on a Parks and Rec kick lately. Also been on a "learn lots of ridiculous tidbits about computers to successfully select a reasonable laptop that will fit my needs" kick, which has left my dad a little... upset. For reasons ridiculous.
Went to buy the aforementioned laptop today with gran, who lovingly paid for it as only my supporting grandmother does. Thought I was going home with one laptop, went home with another (and objectively better) one instead. And by "went home with," I totally mean took home all the accessories to wait eagerly for it to appear in the mail tomorrow. (Note: I'm writing this Monday night, so technically it should be the day after tomorrow, but I'm posting hecka late, so.)
Also, happy Fourth, for all my fellow Americans.
A strange mistype on the receipt has resulted in me and Robin dubbing the laptop Starlord, as that's what it was called on the receipt. Other names include Peter Quill, Andy, and Chris to the Seventh Power, or Chris^7. He is a 13.3" laptop with a lovely Intel i7 core that will last me many years. The floor consultant I spoke with was impressed by the fact I had done my research and not only knew what I wanted, but knew what I was talking about in techy terms, too.
She was also really pretty.
Starlord also conveniently meets the Wifi requirements for my university, so I don't need a ridiculous adapter plugged in all the time that I can accidentally kick with my foot and break the outer shell off, requiring it to be super glued back together. He's a little pricey, with accidental drop and spill protection added, but totally worth the investment, seeing as I'll get a lot of years out of him.
SPEAKING OF UNIVERSITY. My old BFF from high school recently moved to the city my uni is in, and she's trying to transfer to my school.
Insert cricket noises here.
So, yeah. Studying for my ham radio license test this saturday like a speed demon cause I have 159 questions to memorize and still need to drill the other 267 so I can one-up my dad and make a 100% on the Technician exam. I'm also watching my neighbor's dog tomorrow through saturday, so this will be fun.
Bye y'all
