a little rant, spoons edition

realized it's been a while since i actually gave a half-decent update. or at least it feels like it's been a while. i dunno.

hope everyone on here had a merry christmas, hanukkah, or kwanzaa, depending on what you celebrate. (i think the other one around this time is diwali, sorry if i'm unawares of whatever else there is, but happy whatever-you-celebrate, yule, etc.)

i had a pretty good one, all things considered. got some stuff id been needing and wanting, which was much appreciated.

my biggest headache right now is the fact im sitting on three thousand dollars of unpaid medical bills from a visit to the emergency room i had at the beginning of december. i had to call the hospital i went to and ask about financial aid, and hopefully i'll be able to have it covered by a charity program or something. but i still have two separate bills from the main one i have to figure out how to cover.

yall probably remember me mentioning at one point or another how i've never had a job, and my dad is disabled. so, yeah. not fun to think about.

im trying not to worry about it cause they have discount programs for uninsured people. i just hate the fact that the united states doesn't have basic universal healthcare to cover these kinds of things. i wouldn't have even gone to the emergency room if i wasn't told to do so by a medical professional, because i knew this would happen. but i didn't really have a choice.

if they had at least been able to take care of my health problem, i wouldn't be so angry. but the dummies at the hospital didn't take me seriously, didn't even check the area i was directly complaining about--my shoulder--and opted to scan my neck instead, even though i can literally feel my bones clicking together when i rotate my arm. i specifically told them it hurt near my collarbone, and they didn't bother to check there for a pinched nerve or for the bones having moved out of place.

morons.

anyways, two cool things: bought myself a Raspberry Pi for christmas, which is a tiny computer that fits in the palm of your hand and is designed to teach beginners how to code. unfortunately i can't hook it up to my desktop monitor because it lacks an HDMI port, and my tv is at school. but i have one to goof around with and learn how to do more coding stuff, which is a side project i've wanted to work on for a year.

other cool thing: got hit by a bolt of inspiration lightning and churned out 52 pages of single-spaced fanfic for fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood. first chapter is posted to archive of our own riiiiight here if you're interested. i've got the rest on backlog while i beta read it and make sure there aren't any plot holes in my writing, but i plan on updating weekly. i've also got a surprisingly popular fanfic for The Good Doctor there, under the same name.

im sure im gonna get slapped for not having posted my secret santa piece yet. it'll be up tonight. i wanted to take the time to make it good, especially since my arms are just about crapped up right now.

new year's post is coming, so happy friday!
