Introduction of a Theme

Sometimes a person comes across something in life that makes them stop and think. Sometimes they stumble across a certain brand of creative genius that perhaps no one else can see. That is when you know you've found your muse.

As an introductory post to Egg on Your Face, I wanted to take a moment to tell you about just what that means. As per UsingEnglish , the phrase "Egg on your face" means this:

If someone has egg on their face, they are made to look foolish or embarrassed.

A friend of mine once used this idiom and I adored it immediately for the lives of Jim and Chance, the two stars of their own comic and novel. They are the boys, and their subsequent lives, that will reign over this World. May they be benevolent.

Jim came along around the year 2003 when I hit an all-time low. I think I was jobless at the time, but searching frantically! So I made Jim up and he hasn't left me since. Of course, as all good characters, he's undergone a few makeovers. His wings have gotten more feathers, his face less sharp, and he's gotten a little meat on his bones. The most important introduction to Jim was Chance.

Chance, originally, was a mohawked contortionist with a liking of goggles. He had pink hair. Yes, pink. Since then, he's shed the mohawk and let the blonde come back and lost the goggles. I don't think he's even a contortionist anymore. But he is Jim's savior. He's also Jim's destroyer.

Their story will come out in the idea of pictures and some blurbs. Maybe I'll even post up some of their journals for everyone to read. To an artist, to an enabler of ideas, characters can come to life and do things like that.

This World will be dedicated to two special people in my life. The first one did nothing to dam up my creativity when creating Jim. The other gave Jim his Chance.

Thank you for reading!
