Chapter Five: Some Information

-Jason-

Elijah was a nice girl, she did have an attitude but I don’t think that most people get to see her when she is having fun. She was willing to teach me how to do stuff that I probably should have learned while I was growing up. When she told me the noodles were done I turned off the knob that wasn’t the same way as the others and waited for her to tell me what to do next.

“Can you dump the noodles into the strainer that I put in the sink?” She asked not looking at me.

I did was I was told and took the pot over to the skin and poured the boiling water and the noodles into the bowl that had holes in it and was amazed that the water went right through but the noodles stayed in the bowl and didn’t fall through the holes as well.

“Why are you so fascinated by a strainer?” You can’t tell me that you don’t even know what a strainer is.” Elijah said to me walking over and grabbing the bowl out of the sink.

I shook my head, “N-no…I-I’ve been a…” I trailed off and looked down at the floor.

“You’ve been along, I know I heard, but for how long?” She asked me.

“F-fourteen y-years.” I looked up at her to see a shocked expression on her face.

“Where have you been all these years?” She asked me.

I looked down at the ground and tugged at me shirt. I wasn’t really sure how to tell her, or really anyone for that matter that I was a science experiment for that long.

“Never mind you don’t have to tell me. Eat something. I don’t expect my parents to get back till late tonight.” Elijah told me grabbing some noodles and sauce then sitting down at the counter.

I nodded and took a little bit of food and sat down next to her. “I-I’m sorry.” I muttered looking down at my plate.

“What are you sorry for?” She questioned.

“I-I’m not…v-very good at a-any thing.” I told her.

“You must be good at something, everyone is.” She answered.

“O-okay.” I mumbled.

“You can eat you know. “She stated.

I nodded and picked up my fork and spun some noodles onto my fork and took a bite. It smelled really good, and tasted great. I ate what I had put on my plate and then took my plate over to the sink.

“You can eat more then that.” She told me.

I shook my head, “I-I’m not t-that hungry…t-thank you t-though.” I turned and smiled at her a little then turned back to the sink and cleaned my plate off. After I set it in the sink I sat back down next to her and fiddled with my hands in my lap.

“You don’t have to sit here.” She told me.

“E-Elijah…c-can we p-play m-more outside…of that game?” I asked as I kept glancing at her. That game was a lot of fun and I wanted to learn more about it.

“You want to play more basketball?” She asked me. “Sure I don’t see why not.” She answered and finished up eating and then put her plate in the sink. “lets go.” I got up and followed her outside.

We played until it started getting dark out. I wasn’t very good at it but I had gotten a little better. I actually made a basket this time when we played. Elijah looked really pretty when she smiled. She was really happy playing basketball and I could see why she was good at it.

Elijah went and took a shower so I wondered around the house. The living room was big and I felt a bit small in the room. This house was really quiet with Elijah’s parents not home. I wasn’t use to being in such a different environment other then the lab. I was never really allowed to explore the lab because of the experiments done to me. I heard a door open then shut and I went back in the hall to see that the bathroom door was open but the door the Elijah’s room was shut. She must have been getting changed so I went back into the guest room and sat there for a bit. I didn’t want to look like I was doing something wrong. I didn’t want to get anyone in trouble.

I didn’t hear Elijah come out of her room but I heard a door open and shut and I bopped my head out of the room. I couldn’t see anything so I wandered down the hall and saw Elijah’s father taking his shoes off and walking in.

“Oh just who I wanted to see.” He spoke looking at me.

“D-Did I do s-something wrong?” I asked with a bit of fear in my voice.

“No you didn’t do anything wrong. I just want to talk.” He said and sat down in the recliner. “Have a seat.” He motioned for me to sit down on the couch so I did. “Son do you realize that you have been missing for fourteen years?” Was the first thing that he asked me.

I nodded, but didn’t say anything to him. He took a deep breath and exhailed as he sat up and rested his elbows on his legs and looked at me. “Your full name is Jason William Rose. You were reported missing when you were four. I also managed to contact your parents. They live in this area but right now they are both away in South Africa and asked for me to enroll you in school. Where have you been all this time Jason?” He explained to me.

I looked down at my lap and started fidgeting with my shirt, “I-I’ve been…a l-lab rat f-for fourteen years…” I answered quietly not really knowing if he heard me or not.

“Wait…where have you been?” He asked a bit shocked.

“I-I’ve been e-experimented on f-for fourteen years…” I said louder and looked up at him. “I-I ran away…I-I c-couldn’t take it anymore…” I said.

“What lab was it?” He asked.

I shook my head, “I-I don’t know…I w-was never allowed outside.” I answered truthfully.

“I’ll look into it, for now we should probably set up a doctors appointment for you so that you can get checked out.” He sighed leaning back.

“Y-yes sir…” I muttered and looked down at my lap again. I didn’t want to go to another place where they would poke me, but I had no choice.
