Chapter 7
I was just finishing up my homework when my mother called down from the stairs. “Hannah! There’s a boy here for you!” she yelled. I froze. “No it can’t possibly be Lawliet.” I thought and headed down. But sure enough there he was with an amused look on his face. “I saw a park by your house and wondered if you wanted to hang out there.” He said, almost awkwardly. “Sure.” I shrugged. I got my runners on and dashed off, forgetting about the T-shirt I was wearing. We walked a few steps in silence when Lawliet dashed off. “Race you there!” He said. I smiled and ran to keep up with him. “No fair! You got a head start!” I teased. He turned and smiled, then increased his speed. I became determined and ran as fast as I could, but even then I could only hold up to him and the childish race ended with a tie. I laughed so hard when he said it was a tie, because he won by a long shot. He stared at me with a confused expression, which made me laugh even more. “You’re an odd one you know that?” I said poking his chest. He smiled then picked me up. “Hey! Let me down right now!!!” I yelled in mock anger. He plopped me on a swing pushed hard, soaring me up into the sky. I laughed joyfully, feeling like a child again and forgetting everything. I jumped off then ran to a slide, not wanting to escape the wonderful feeling. We played for a few more minutes, for then I began to get tired. I crept under a willow tree and laid at its huge trunk. I gave a content sigh and turned to see Lawliet right beside me. I realized it had begun to get quite late and then stars were already beginning to twinkle in the skies. I watched with fascination as the fireflies danced around us, twinkling us with their beautiful lights. “It’s so beautiful. I never want to leave.” I said. I realized I felt cold, remembering my T-shirt, and Lawliet seemed to notice because he awkwardly put his arms around me to keep me warm. “Then don’t.” he said softly. I looked him with such passion, right then. I didn’t want this to end. What was this odd feeling I felt? This happiness when he wrapped his arms around me? I sighed and rested in his arms, closing my eyes. Where I found myself next was in my bed. “I must have fallen asleep.” I thought out loud. Then lay my head against my pillow and thought of Lawliet until I drifted asleep again.
