Who Chapter 10

Chapter 10

The splash of the waves, the cry of the gulls and the crisp blue sky, this was the perfect day for going to the beach. I flounced around and waded in the ocean, lifting up my dress as to not get it wet. Lawliet watched me with a smile in his eyes. I gasped. “What is it?” Lawliet said urgently. “The fish are nibbling my toes, it tickles!” I giggled. “Why you.” Lawliet muttered and ran right at me. “AGH!” I screamed as he swooped me up and held me in his arms. “Put me down Lawliet!” I shrieked playfully. “Never.” Lawliet said. I laughed until my sides were sore. “Lawliet!” I cried. He dashed to the beach and went up to a big rock. He placed me down here. I took in the beauty of it all. The glorious sun laying it’s rays onto the blue sea and the white cloud’s dotted here and there. Lawliet turned to me with the smile I loved. “I like it here don’t you?” he asked. “Yes I do very much.” I replied with a happy smile. A few moments passed. “I think I’ll go beach-combing wanna come?” Lawliet asked. “Naw I think I’ll stay here for awhile.” I said. “Okay.” Lawliet stepped down and went to the beach. I contentedly laid down on the rock and took in the sun. I must have fallen asleep but the gulls woke me up eventually. Just as I stood up I heard a man’s voice. “Hey there girl.” He said. I turned around. A grubby man with long red hair and stubble’s on his chin and wearing dirty clothes approached me. I froze. “Watcha doing all alone out here?” he said lazily. I couldn’t talk. He came close, so close I could smell the alcohol in his breath. “Come on girl.” He said running his hands down my arms. I tried to scream but it lodged in my throat. “Lawliet.” I managed to choke out, but only in a whisper. “Heh.” The man laughed, then into a full-fledged laugh, the sound braking over waves. And then he fell. Lawliet had a horrible look in his eyes, a mix of disgust and hatred brooding in them. The man got to his legs and screamed. “What are you doing boy!? This girl and I were having a little fun is all!” The man shrieked. The man went for a punch but Lawliet dodged it and threw his leg into the mans gut. The men collapsed into a heap on the rock. “Let’s go Hannah.” Lawliet said sternly. I nodded and followed him, moving out of the way for the man. Once at the beach I sat on a log to calm myself. “Are you okay? Did he do anything to you?” Lawliet asked, lifting my head into his gaze. I shook my head. Lawliet sighed in relief. “Why didn’t you scream? Why didn’t you stop him?” Lawliet asked me. “I-I’m sorry.” I mumbled. “No Hannah! You could have gotten so hurt!” Lawliet said. I started crying. “I’m sorry Lawliet!” I yelled. Lawliet took my face in his hands. And before I knew it his lips were on mine. Lawliet was kissing me. Me.
