Chapter 11
A few more days passed when I decided that I needed to return to my mom. The voicemails on my cell-phone had started piling, most of them blubbering from my mother's crying. I told Lawliet this and he nodded in agreement. So Lawliet took my hand and we walked to my house.
When we finally got there I gave a heavy sigh and gave a weak smile back. He gave me the thumbs up sign. I walked to the door and slowly turned the doorknob. It was not locked. I opened the door to find my mother sobbing on the dining room table, her face buried in her arms. I sighed. “Mom I’m home,” I said. She looked up in disbelief. “Hannah!” she yelled and ran to hug me. “I’m so sorry! I’ll never do it again! I’m so horrible!” she wailed. “Mom it’s okay. I know your temper just got out of hand,” I said. My mom held me tighter.
“Where have you been staying?” she asked when she finally let go of me. “At my friends Lawliet’s house,” I replied. I looked to the door and as if on cue Lawliet walked in. “Mom this is Lawliet,” I said, gesturing to him. “Hello Mrs. Hale.” Lawliet said, extending his hand. “Hi Lawliet and thank you,” she said shaking his hand. “Thank god. At least they’re acting like they like each other,” I thought.
“Oh! You're that boy that Hannah goes with every evening!” My mother exclaimed, remembering and grinning mischievously. “Yes I am. We just go the park down the block,” Lawliet replied acting as if it meant nothing. “Oh.” My mother said looking disappointed. I couldn’t help but giggle.
“Well that’s my mother for you. Always wanting to hear her daughters love life,” I thought. “Anyways thank you again Lawliet and I hope to see you again soon,” my mother said and on that note Lawliet walked out of the door.I stared longingly but snapped out of my trance. My mom looked at me and smiled.

The days passed and I found myself longing for Lawliet more and more. Apart from our brief school moments I hadn’t been seeing him much. He also hadn’t been coming to my house often in the evenings and to school as well. “Is he sick?” I wondered. He usually never was. I worried.
I hardly noticed the big posters telling all the good things happening at prom. One day at school, when Kayla had a detention and Melissa was studying for a test, Lawliet and I were sitting under the apple tree. I cuddled up to him and he smiled at me. “How are you?” I asked. “Good,” Lawliet said. We paused. “Will you go to the prom with me?” Lawliet said, looking awkward. I stared. “Sure,” I said blankly. Lawliet looked pleased with himself. I smiled.
“You're so funny sometimes, you know that?” I said teasingly. He smiled. “I’ll be walking you home today okay?” he said. “Okay,” I answered. As we walked home I got to the house and he followed me. My mother stood waiting. “I trust Watanuki sent you my message,” Lawliet said to her.
She nodded. I looked at them both, confused. “Well?” Lawliet asked her. She sighed. “Well I have noticed she seems a bit distant since she came here,” my mother sighed. Lawliet smiled. “Okay. She can live with you. But only if she visits me once a week or more if she wants to.” I looked in amazement. I was going to live with Lawliet. “Excellent. I’ll tell Watanuki to get her stuff tomorrow,” Lawliet said. “Mom? I’m going to live with Lawliet?” I said. “Yes dear,” my mother said, soothing my hair.
