Halloween Cleaning

Sally looked up from cleaning the house as the door opened. Jack walked in, his usual grin quickly spreading from seeing Sally. “Hello Jack. The house was so dusty so I decided to clean it.” She smiled. Jack nodded in approval. “Thank goodness I moved in! You would have been buried in trash! Remember when I first moved in!?” Sally laughed. Jack laughed as well remembering her face at the sight of his house.

* * * *

It had been a few days since the incident with the Boogie Man and Jack and Sally where more in love then ever. They had decided to live together, and of course Jack couldn’t live in Sally’s house so she moved to his. What she saw made her gasp.

Christmas books still littered the floor, skewed everywhere. The Christmas tree was toppled to the floor and Zero’s bed was nowhere to be seen underneath it. Sally couldn’t even find places to set her few possessions. She could see her work was cut out for her.

It had taken her two long weeks to clean Jack’s house, and in the process she had battled three dig-sized spiders, shooed more then ten mice and stomped so many bugs she couldn’t keep track. She had just finished her work today, and to Jack this was more then a dream come true.

The floor sparkled with a just-cleaned shine and the books were stacked in a wonderful fashion. The toppled over Christmas tree had been taken away and Zero could sleep comfortably again. Sally looked at her work. She had done a great job!

Exhausted, she sat down and drank one of her well-known potions. She slowly slipped into a calm nap; happy to be where she was instead of the dark dungeons she had been kept in once before.
