Travel back in time with a Feudal Farie Tale, InuYasha!

Beads of Subjugation

The Beads of Subjugation are the beads around InuYasha's neck. They are activated when Kagome says "Sit!". Kagome is the only person who can activate the Beads of Subjugation, as Kaede intended them for Kagome's use when she first put them around InuYasha's neck. The force of the spell is so great that upon activation InuYasha plunges face first into the ground. Although originally made by Kikyo for this purpose (with the phrase "beloved" instead of "sit"), she decided against giving it to InuYasha and never used it.
The Kotodama no Nenju is introduced in the very first manga as a spiritual device to control InuYasha. It was originally intended to keep InuYasha from killing or hurting Kagome. It is not used often anymore due to change in InuYasha's personality and is only used as comic relief, to save his life, or to reverse his demonic transformation.
It consists of a number of round beads and a few magatama which are often mistaken as claws. The magatama is an ancient comma-shaped bead imbued with great spiritual and mystical powers.

Mrioku and Sango

When Miroku and Sango meet, Miroku restrains himself out of sympathy. Miroku and Sango are constantly getting into fights. However, Miroku once proposed to Sango and Sango accepted. After the proposal, Miroku still flirts with other women, albeit less than before. As the story progresses, it becomes clear that Miroku is falling deeply in love with Sango but since he is unable to come forth with those feelings, he hides it behind inappropriate groping and double entendres. Since Miroku is "technically" a Buddhist priest, Sango usually addresses Miroku with the respectful term houshi-sama (houshi means Buddhist priest, and -sama is a respectful honorific), even when he acts disrespectfully, which is reflected in the dub by dryly calling him "monk".
Despite their "cat and mouse" relationship Sango and Miroku actually make an excellent pair in battle, and whenever the group splits up it's usually split between InuYasha-Kagome and Sango-Miroku. Ironically, with all his groping and innuendo, Miroku doesn't ask Sango to bear his child (as he does with every woman he meets). It is not until she demonstrates jealousy over his asking other women and finally brings the subject to his attention. Surprised, Miroku naturally asked the question, and Sango gave him a typical response.
In episode 118 of the anime series, when Miroku and Sango were battling on Mt. Hakurei, Sango was struck unconscious by Hirakotsu. Miroku then cries out, and picks up Sango and Hiraikotsu while running. Kagura then taunts Miroku, saying that he would have lived a little longer if he had run immediately. Miroku then confesses out loud that Sango is the woman he loves, and he would even sacrifice his very life for her. With that, he opens his Kazaana and sucks in all the yōkai chasing after the pairs.

Inuyasha and Kagome

Although their interaction was initially very adversarial, Kagome and InuYasha's relationship gradually changes over the course of the series, and Kagome's kindness and acceptance of InuYasha has had a noticeable effect on his attitude, something that even Kikyo notices, in volume 8 of the manga. Although the two are often seen fighting, they both have feelings for each other but are too proud to admit them. This doesn't change much throughout the series. He is portrayed as quite protective of Kagome, and often becomes confused when Kagome sees him protecting Kikyo. In many episodes InuYasha has been to Kagome's era, and once met Kagome's friends Yuka, Eri, and Ayumi when he entered her window while they were in her room.[12] To Kagome's surprise, her 'boyfriend' wins them over.
Kagome and InuYasha had a rocky start. Being the reincarnation of Kikyo, Kagome has a very close resemblance to her. Consequently, the resentment InuYasha held for Kikyo at that time was carried over to Kagome. As the series progresses, however, the relationship between Kagome and InuYasha changes for the better. InuYasha’s tough guy facade slowly dissolves and he matures. They fall in love without realizing it. However, Kikyo, InuYasha’s former love, is revived from the grave (using part of Kagome's soul); and InuYasha finds that he still has feelings toward Kikyo. InuYasha decides that he must avenge Kikyo, because she died chasing after him, and he owes her his life. Thus, he is willing to 'break up' with Kagome, although it is clear that he doesn't want to. However, Kagome decides to stay with him anyway when she realizes that she loves him and cannot be happy without him. She believes that InuYasha loves Kikyo more, but she will always stay by his side. In this scene, she and Inuyasha walk back to Kaede's village holding hands. InuYasha's love for Kagome continues to grow, even though he still cares for Kikyo. This intense love triangle becomes one of the main conflicts within the manga/anime.
As a comic relief, the two argue frequently throughout the anime, in some cases about Kikyo, which sometimes ends with Kagome saying osuwari ("sit" in the English dub) and InuYasha splatting to the ground. However, as both characters mature the arguments slowly dissipate, something especially evident in the later chapters of the manga. Miroku, Sango, and Shippo realize that Kagome and InuYasha are in love before the principals do. Indications of the intimacy between them include: holding hands, frequent physical contact below the shoulder, and Kagome allowing InuYasha to rest his head on her lap when he had been heavily poisoned in his human form (as well as Kagome in his). In Japanese culture, such gestures represent obvious feelings of love between two people.

Kirara

Kirara ("Kilala" in the English dub) is the nekomata companion of Sango, the yōkai exterminator that hails from a mountain village of other exterminators. Kirara usually appears as a tiny and cute feline no larger than a kitten with cream-colored fur, black ears, various black markings, large red eyes, and two tails, but her true form is a large saber toothed tiger-like yōkai. Despite her yōkai blood and appearance, she is fiercely loyal to Sango and her friends and has been in Sango's family for generations. She has taken a particular shine to Shippo, evidenced by her keeping the young kitsune company when her presence is not required in battle, and she has aided InuYasha on occasion by helping him learn how to wield the Wind Scar.

Shippo

He is a fox demonkitsune, (a yōkai-fox) who tags along with Kagome and InuYasha after they defeat the Thunder Brothers. At first, Shippo tries to steal Kagome's shards of the Jewel of Four Souls (Shikon no Tama), needing them to become stronger so he can avenge his father's death at the hands of the Thunder Brothers. After InuYasha and Kagome hear Shippo's story, they help him fulfill his revenge and he becomes the first new member of the group. Shippo, unlike some yōkai, has no problem with humans, but InuYasha and Shippo always tease each other while Kagome acts like katsumomo, a combination of mother and sister to Shippo. Though young and rather naïve, he has a very good grasp of the emotions and motives of his companions, and has oddly accurate moments of insight. He wishes very much that Kagome and InuYasha would not fight, and when they do, he is right there trying to convince InuYasha to apologize for whatever he did, resulting in a quick bop to the noggin for the kitsune.
