Chero woke up with a massive headache.
“….What happened?” she muttered.
She looked around. She was in a dark room…and was not tied up. She felt along the wall until she found the door. Locked…of course. She was pacing back and forth when the door opened. Chero turned and almost gagged. That was the ugliest man that she had ever seen.
“And how is the cavallina holding up?”
Chero shot him a look and then turned away.
“Don’t worry…As soon as the Cavallones pay up you will be released…”he said with a laugh.
Chero closed her eyes. There was no way that they would let her live after receiving the money they desired. She ran her fingers over her bracelet. She wondered why Dino’s men left her when they insisted on watching her before. Did something happen to Dino? She hoped that was not the case.
The thug grabbed onto her shoulder and turned her around.
“Don’t ignore me when I am talking to you.” He growled, “The Cavallone’s have been breathing down our necks ever since we started to harm civilians.”
Chero winced.
“So…not only can we get them off our backs, but we can get a pretty penny for the Boss’s girl.”
A loud noise was heard.
“What’s going on out there?!” the man shouted at his subordinates.
“We’re under atta-ack!”
Dino walked into the doorway, with a bunch of his men following behind.
“Let her go…”
The man grabbed Chero and held a gun to her head.
“I do not think so.”
Chero squirmed in the man’s arms. Dino shook his head.
“I warned you.”
With a flick of his wrist Dino knocked the gun out of the man’s hand. Chero took that opportunity to kick the man where it counts. He dropped her, crying out in pain. Chero got up and ran over to Dino, who pulled her into a warm hug.
“I will spare your life this one time, amico…If you touch what is mine again…Well, next time I will not be so lenient.”
Dino turned around and led Chero out.
After that day Chero was not allowed to go out alone. In fact…
Chero glanced over her shoulder while she and Dino were on a stroll together.
“I know you worry about me…But do we have to have people following us now?” she asked looking at Dino.
A large group of Dino’s men were following them. And if that was not bad enough, Chero could have sworn one of them had a camera.
“Ahaha...Well...they like you and do not want you to get hurt...and well...it’s the same with me, amore...”
Chero blushed and leaned over. She gave him a peck on the cheek.
“You’re so sweet…”
