Chero sighed. There it was again…That feeling of being watched. Maybe she should have told Dino…After all they could be an enemy famiglia who would try and use Chero to get to Dino…But he looked so stressed. She did not want to worry him anymore.
Chero walked home alone…well as alone as someone who was being watched could be. She was so caught up in her thoughts that she was not watching where she was going. She was just about to walk into a busy intersection when she was pulled back.
“Eh? Oh! Thank you.”
Chero looked to see who had helped her. It was a man with dark sunglasses and wearing a suit.
“A-alessandro?” <--Randomly chosen Italian name
It was one of Dino’s subordinates.
“Are you alright?” he asked her.
Chero nodded.
“As the boss’s prospective wife you need to be more careful…”
Chero’s face turned bright red.
“We wouldn’t want you to get hurt.”
“Sorry…We?!”
Alessandro looked sheepish.
“Watch yourself.”
He then left.
After he left a light bulb went off in Chero’s head. She knew who was following her now.
Dino sighed.
“Boss?” Romario questioned.
“Mi dispiace… It’s these thugs…They keep harming the civilians…Do we know nothing more about them?”
Romario shook his head.
Dino scratched his head in frustration.
A cell phone went off. Romario dug into his pocket and answered it.
“Alessandro? This is not the best time…”
“Reporting in. Oh, is the boss in the room?”
“Yeah…So make this quick.”
“Everything is going well. But…She knows.”
“WHAT?!”
Dino blinked and looked at Romario with confusion.
Romario covered the phone with his hand.
“It’s nothing serious boss!”
He returned to speaking to the phone.
“How did this happen?”
“Well… She was about to walk out into traffic…we could not just stand by and watch.”
“It’s alright…You did well. Keep up the good work.”
Romario hung up the phone.
“What was that about?” Dino asked.
“N-nothing!”
Dino’s eyes narrowed a little.
“What aren’t you telling me?”
“Well…you see…”
Romario explained to Dino that he assigned some people to watch over Chero while she was away from Dino. And told him how Chero found out about them when she was almost run over.
Dino started laughing.
“That explains it! I could tell that something was bothering Chero. You don’t have to watch her all the time. It’s not like every Mafioso knows that we’re dating…”
So…Not long after that Chero stopped feeling like she was being watched.
“…And I was just starting to get used to it too…” Chero said.
Chero walked up to her door. She was just about to unlock it when a hand covered her mouth and a strong arm started to pull her back. Chero kicked and struggled, but soon started to feel sleepy.
Dino hummed to himself as he started to leave his mansion. He had a bunch of roses in his hands.
“Boss!”
Dino stopped and looked at one of his subordinates.
“What is it? I was on my way to see il mio amore.”
The man shifted uncomfortably.
“Well…you know how you told us to not watch Chero?”
Dino nodded.
“….We have a ransom note for her…”
