When Dino walked into the room he was amazed. Jenny had done a wonderful job. The room was covered in flowers that Jenny must have used magic to make. In the center on a table laid Chero, surrounded by flowers…as if she were only asleep. The only signs of death were the few cuts and bruises that could not be hidden…
Dino slowly walked over to the body.
“How…strange….Not long ago you were…desperately trying to stop us at the front door…”
Dino wiped his eyes, “I’m sorry…There are so many things…I want to tell you…”
He walked around to the side and took one of Chero’s cold hands.
“So…this is what it feels like to lose the most important person in your life…your soul mate…The tears…won’t seem to stop…Mi dispiace…Mi dispiace, amore…”
He gave her a shaky smile, “First…an apology…I’m sorry I laughed at your valuable opinion…for that I’m sorry. I am so sorry…amore…
Also…you…you’re…probably going to keep going through this many times…now…To do it all over again….desperately trying to get all of us to escape…over and over…”
He closed his eyes, “For some reason I don’t get my past memories…so I like to keep my promises in my own way…I’ll keep my word no matter what…The Chero who is with me now…is not alone. It must be the scene you were dreaming of…Everyone is with you…even your sister and annoying teacher. It’s not a dream…and there will come a day when you will get to experience it firsthand…”
Dino took one of the roses that Jenny had made with magic, “Until then…”
He placed the rose between her hands among the crocuses that were already in her hands, “Until then…rest in peace…Chero. Io ti amerò per sempre…”
Dino turned and left the room. He wiped his eyes. And made sure he was
presentable. He then went to rejoin his Chero.
