After listening to Lilith’s plan that we’re heading for the Spring of Life I was really pumped up to get going. Dusk was excited too.
“The Spring of Life eh? Oh boy I wonder what guards that place. I bet it’s guarded by dragons wouldn’t that be awesome? Did I ever tell you I tangled with dragons before?”
“Yeah you have. You gave me the eye that belonged to a dragon you killed fifty years ago.” Liar I thought. He got that eye from a giant frog. “It was delicious.”
“You’re welcome,” Dusk said. “As for the Forest of Death I bet Zombies guard the place.”
“Z-z-zombies????”
“Yeah remember those guys. In the day time they’re really slow and sluggish and they really REALLY smell bad after cooking in the sun.” Dusk said grinning wickedly.
I tried not to imagine it. I hate zombies they’re really grows, and they smell horrible. Just thinking about it made me queasy.
“At night they’re lighting fast and they can even keep up with ninjas, elves, and demons.” Dusk continued and I shuddered remembering I came face to face with zombies when I was training to be a witch. It was actually a test I had to take and it was the hardest test I ever had. They were really hard to kill like the Kenai but they can still attack you after loosing their limbs and even their heads. They don’t need their heads on their bodies when they’re choking you to death as long as a Necromancer was controlling them.
“And do you know what their favorite food is?” Dusk whispered in my ear and became stiff as board. “They like…BRAINS!”
“Eeep!!” I yelled and jumped several feet in the air and fall backwards. With a thud I collided into someone behind me.
“Watch it,” I heard a female said behind me. It was the elf Xexilia.
I moved away from her quickly and bowed at her nervously. “Sorry, sorry, sorry!” I said hastily.
Dusk was on the ground (I guess he fell off my shoulder when I jumped) and was rolling around laughing. “Ha you still believe in that old myth. They’re dead they don’t eat dummy.”
I glared at him and pretended to stomp on his tail. “Hey watch the tail.” Dusk dodged my foot and moved away. “I thought Midori was the mean twin.” He commented and I stuck my tongue at him.
I looked back at Xexilia who was looking at me curiously. “Do you have a twin?”
I nodded, “Yeah Midori…she’s my sister…” I felt my head bow down and I stared at the ground. I forgot for a moment about my sister. It was eating me up that I don’t know if she’s alright or if the Kenai got her….
“Are you alright?” I heard Xexilia asked me.
