~Takumi~
I stood up and walked into my room and got some blue shorts out of my dresser and a baggy green shirt. “Here.” I said handing her the clothes. “You can wear these if you want.”
“Thank you.” She said quietly taking the clothes from me.
“If I remember right both Haru and Aki brought bags for the night.” I said “Yep they did, I almost tripped over one going into the kitchen earlier.”
“Sorry.” She murmured.
“No it’s fine, don’t worry about it…you’re disappearing again.” I said opening one of my drawers.
She just popped right back into view.
“Why don’t you go and get changed.” I offered.
She nodded and went into the bathroom to change. I got changed into red shorts and a black tank top. Once I got my tank top on Mai came walking out of the bathroom.
“At least the shorts fit.” I smiled. It was a good thing that we were the same height.
Her face went a light pink color. “You alright?” I asked.
“Yea I’m fine.” She said heading down the hall.
I shrugged and followed hiding my wings again so Haru wouldn’t start freaking out.
“Oh my god he’s not colorphobic after all.” Haru said sarcastically.
“Oh wow did you get all the helium out of you or are you going to float away?” I remarked.
We all started laughing. We just enjoyed picking on each other sometimes. Without anyone noticing I went into the living room and sat down on the floor leaning against the couch.
“You alright?” I looked over and saw Mai walk into the room.
“Yea I’m fine just a bit tired is all.” I smiled.
She sat down next to me “It’s strange seeing you in a different color other than black.” She stated.
“I know surprising that I even have different colors in my dresser right?” I laughed lightly.
She laughed a bit.
“I like your laugh, Mai it’s cute.” I smiled.
“Oh um…thank you…” She said looking away from me.
“No I mean it, it’s really cute.”
A silence fell between us.
“So how’s your neck feeling?” I asked.
“It hurts.” She replied.
“Do you want me to get you some Advil?” I offered
“No it’s alright I’ll be fine.”
“Come on we’re going to put a bandage on it at least for the night.” I said getting up.
“Takumi, how are you able to hide your wings?” She questioned.
“Oh umm…that’s a good question.” I laughed.
“I mean even where the scars should be are gone.” She said touching my back. She hit that one spot and my knees buckled on me again. “I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to…”
I started laughing “No it’s fine, it just shocked me that you could find that spot even with you not being able to see them.” I said and she helped me up off the floor.
“What happened in there I heard a thunk.” Aki questioned.
“Mai found the one spot that can make me fall.” I answered “Even with them hidden. But look.” I turned around “Even the scars are gone.”
“Oh wow.” Aki said leaning over the island.
“That’s really surprising.” Haru mentioned.
“Alright I have to get some bandages for Mai so she can cover her stitches.” I motioned towards the direction of the down stairs bathroom.
“Alright I think I’m going to go and crash on the recliner.” Haru said and I saw him brush his fingers against the back of Aki’s neck.
She took quick breath. “You jerk your hands are freezing.”
He laughed and she chased in into the living room.
“Just as long as they don’t break anything.” I sighed looking at the door way to the living room.
Mai and I went into the bathroom and she sat on the toilet seat cover and moved her hair. I put some peroxide on a cotton ball.
“This might burn ok?” I said.
She nodded and flinched when I started dabbing the cotton ball on the stitched wound.
“Ahh!” She gripped at the shorts and let me keep going to make sure it was clean.
“Almost done, bear with me.” I said softly.
“I will.” She answered.
I dried off the remaining peroxide and then placed a gauze on it and typed it down.
“Ok.” I said and she got up and turned around.
“Thank you.” She smiled.
“No, you should have never gone through that, it’s my fault.” I said looking away.
“Stop it right now Takumi.” Mai ordered then her face got really pale and her lips lost color.
“Mai? What is it?” Her knees suddenly gave out from under her and I was able to catch her and slowly lower her down to the ground. “Mai, Mai wake up.” I pleaded.
Her breathing slowed down. “Mai, please…please wake up.” I checked her pulse. It was going at a normal rate. “This is my fault.” I felt a tear slid down my cheek. “I shouldn’t have asked any of you to come with me…none of this would have happen to you guys if I just went alone.” I let go of her wrist.
I saw her eyes open then start to close.
“No Mai don’t close your eye’s kept those grey eyes open.” I said grabbing a wash cloth and wetting it down with cold water. “Now breath.” I said kneeling back down beside her and placing the now folded wash cloth under her neck.
Her breathing went back to normal.
“Talk to me Mai.” I said looking down at her. “Come on talk to me, or I’m going to put an ice cube down your shirt.” I said and she laughed weakly. “At least you’re laughing it gets more oxygen into you.” I sighed in relief.
“Hey…” She smiled
“You idiot you should have told me you were felling dizzy.” I said. “I care about you to see you like this.” I said. “All three of you are like my family, and I don’t want you to get hurt any more then what’s already happened.” She took my hand.
“It’s not your fault Takumi…even if you wouldn’t have told any of us…we would have come anyways.” She smiled weakly.
I placed my other hand over hers “But now you’re hurt, don’t ever scare me like that again.” I muttered.
