Waking up

~Mai~

“Alright well I’ll see you in the morning.” I closed my eyes, and when I heard him flop down on the floor. I opened them again. After 10 minutes, his wings suddenly appeared. It was pretty obvious he was asleep. He looked so, beautiful, truly like a sleeping angel. I laid there for the longest time, just watching him. He tossed a little, and muttered sometimes. My eyes lids got heavy, and I drifted off, thinking of how Takumi had cried over me.

I opened my eyes, and sat up. Haru was snoring, Aki was curled up, sound asleep, and Takumi was laying on his side, a little bit of drool sliding out of the corner of his mouth. I smiled and rolled my eyes. Carefully and quietly, I went to the bathroom and splashed some cold water on my face. I was wide awake now, and I wanted to do something for everyone. So I decided to make breakfast. Opening the fridge, I grabbed the eggs. I found a pan, and was about to turn the fire on, when a voice startled be. “What are you doing?” I turned around and saw Takumi, rubbing his eyes. His wings were flickering in and out of view.
“I’m making you all breakfast.” I said.
“No, you don’t have to, I’ll do it.” He went to take the spatula from me but I held onto it tight.
“Takumi, you’re still tired, go lay back down.” I said quietly.
“N-No, I’m fine.” He yawned. I smiled and pull his still half sleeping body to the couch. I covered him up with the blanket. I brushed some hair out of his face.
“I’ve got it under control, go ahead and sleep for a while longer, you need to build your strength back up.” He closed his eyes and I went back to the kitchen. I had just put some butter in the pan when Haru came gliding, literally, gliding in.
“Morning Mai.” He smiled.
“Hey.”
“I like how you made Takumi go back to sleep, aren’t you gonna do that to me?” He frowned.
“You and I both know that once you wake up, you can’t ever get back to sleep.” I stated. He laughed.
“That’s true. But you also don’t blush every time you look at me either. And that with him watching, you would probably turn into a major klutz.” Almost right on cue, I clumsily dropped the spatula. I looked down.
“If you like him so much, why not just tell him? He’s a ding bat when it comes to girls.” Haru said. I frowned. Hypocrite.
“Same to you with Aki.” I muttered.
“What?”
“I see it, the way you tease her. It’s really sweet actually. I wish I could act so, comfortable around Takumi.”
“Don’t be sad Mai, he’ll come around, eventually. He’s blind to those little things you do. It’s pretty painful to watch your little hints fly right over his head, short joke intended.” I laughed, and cracked a few eggs. They were done fast, and I gave Haru a plateful, plus toast.
“If you want more, just ask.” I smiled.
“Thanks, and don’t worry, I will.”
“A-And Haru?” I added.
“Hmm?” He stopped.
“Thank you for the talk.” He turned and grinned, his mouth full of food already. I rolled my eyes and turned back to finish up breakfast.
