Falling in Love

“Yea you have a point there.” He laughed and I put my head carefully on his shoulder. “I hope we get out of here soon.”

“So do I.” I agreed quietly. I felt something around me, and when I realized it was Takumi’s wing, I felt my face get warm. I loved it so much, and it killed me that he didn’t know just how much he meant to me. I just stayed there, taking in his warmth for a bit. He seemed comfortable, and I closed my eyes, but they shot open when the door clicked. A lady came in, she was one of the scientists from before.

“Takumi could you come with me please.” She more stated than asked.

“Mai, I have to go, I’ll be back.” He said softly. He laid me down, and I fought the urge to pull him down and hold him there. He left and I felt really alone. My feelings for him were getting stronger, and I was starting to grow more comfortable around him. I laid there and huddled into a ball. I was surprised that no one came in and tried to take me away. After a while, I heard the door open again and I sat up. I saw Takumi and he raced over to me as soon as the door opened completely. “Mai!” He exclaimed. I looked and saw his arms were burnt, and his clothes were singed.

“Takumi you’re hurt.” I said. He suddenly put his arms around me and I leaned up against him.

“It doesn’t hurt; I made sure I came back, I don’t want anything to happen to you.” He said. My heart stopped, and in that moment, I fell completely in love with him. I held onto Takumi tight, I never wanted to let go. He sat down next to me and laid down. I knew that whatever they made him do, it wore him out. I relaxed quite a bit, and fell asleep in his arms.

I felt myself wake up, and I was on something really soft. I slowly opened my eyes and got really confused. Sitting up I looked around. Takumi’s room…they brought us back? I wondered. I stood up and cautiously went downstairs. I smelled something good, and it wasn’t until then I realized how hungry I really was. “Takumi?” I called. He came out of the kitchen.

“Mai, you’re up, how do you feel? Are you hungry?” He asked with a smile. I nodded. “Good, I’m basically done making the ramen.” He pointed over his shoulder.

“What about you, let me see those burns.” I walked over to him.

“I’m fine, no worries.” He said. I didn’t feel like fighting, but I was still worried.

“But I’m concerned; please tell me how you really feel.” I pleaded.

“Mai…”

“Takumi, I’m not going to let you brush me off.” I said sternly. He sighed.

“Fine, I hurt, my everything is killing me.” He crossed his arms.

“What did they make you do?” I asked.

“It was like an obstacle course. I had to get a key, within a certain amount of time. And then that lady asked me if anything had been happening to you.” He explained.

“What did you say?” I asked.

“I told them nothing has been happening.” I reached out and touched his arm.

“Thank you.” I whispered.

“I wouldn’t let anything happen to you.” He smiled.

“I know.” I said. He’s so protective, I love it.

“Hey, come on, get something to eat.” I followed him into the kitchen and he got me some ramen. I ate it fast, and then set the bowl in the sink. “I’ve never seen you eat that fast.” He said surprised.

“I was hungry.” I blushed.

“I’m glad you aren’t afraid to eat in front of me.” He commented.

“I don’t care who I’m in front of, I could be with the queen of England, and I would still stuff my face.” I grinned. He laughed.
