~*Mai*~
I couldn’t breathe, and I stuttered. “I-I uh…”
“You know what? I did this so that maybe you could loosen up around me. You’re always so nervous.”
“Really?” I asked shocked. He held me there and I closed my eyes.
“Yeah, you know, I seem so happy when I’m with you guys, but when I come home, this is how it is, all the time. I’m alone. Always alone.” I felt my heart break, and I wrapped my arms around him.
“No, no. You’re never ever alone. I’ll always be with you. And I’m just a short walk up the road, or a text away.” I reached into my pocket and pulled my phone out. I slid it into his, and smiled. “Just you, and me. Right?” I asked.
“That, really means a lot to me. And, yeah, that’s right.”
“I’m, beginning to become more comfortable around you. You moved here 3 years ago, and I’m so sorry it’s taken me this long to be able to talk to you without stuttering.”
“It’s ok, I’ve always known you cared, and actually, I don’t mind it at all when you stutter.” I gripped his shirt in the back and smiled. I couldn’t really put my head on his shoulder or chest, since we were the same height. But that was ok.
“I’m so self conscious, I’m always scared it’ll affect my f-friendships.”
“It never will with me.”
“Thank you.”
“Yeah, of course.” He said. I felt his hair on my face, and I stood there, not really knowing what to do. He just continued holding me, and it felt really nice, but it was starting to make me shake, and he noticed. “Mai? Are you ok? You’re shaking.”
“I-I’m alright.” I stuttered.
“Well, lets go sit down, just to be sure.” He let me go and pulled me out to the living room and we sat down on the couch. “Are you certain you feel ok, your face is red again. I hope you aren’t coming down with something.”
“I’m ok, really.” I smiled at him.
