-Takumi-
"We're in my house some how." I stated getting Mai to sit down on the couch. "We're in the living room right now. Do you want to lay down?"
“y-yeah.” She answered. “B-But don’t leave me.” Mai added.
"I'm not going to I'll stay right here."
“Ok. I should be alright in a few minutes.”
“I’m sorry for whatever I did.”
“You weren’t you. I know it wasn’t.” She reached out and took my hand, I squeezed it gently.
“I wish I knew what I was doing.”
“We’ll figure it out. I know we will.”
“What did I do?”
“The first, or second time?” Mai asked.
“How about both.” I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t remember those parts that she was telling me about.
“After Aki. You changed. I don’t know how to describe it. I asked her to ask what was wrong. You told her to leave you alone. I stuttered your name. And you screamed at me to leave you alone. I ran off ahead of you all, and I was crying. But then, something even more strange happened.”
“Like what?”
“I ran into you, and I stumbled back. You pulled me close to you, and apologized, but then flew off so fast, I couldn’t see you. So I ran back to the house. And you weren’t there. I figured you would be at the waterfall. So I went there.”
“That would be how I was confused on how I got to the waterfall.” I mentioned remembering that I we were at the waterfall.
“Then, you started really scaring me. You told me to just go to school, that you didn’t belong there. I said I was hurt, and that you’re the only one who understood me. I asked you not to walk out on me, like everyone else had. You told me you didn’t belong with anyone. That you weren’t human.” She opened her eyes finally
“I don’t understand why I would say that.”
“I tried to tell you that, you would always be my Takumi, forever and always. Then you said you felt like you were slipping into insanity. That’s what frightened me the most. You came out of it, then when those people came, you got real cocky, and whisked me away from them. You’re eyes were dim, and I was uncomfortable. But then you came back again. And here we are.”
“That’s really weird. Huh, no wonder why I would be uncomfortable around me if I knew I was doing that.” She looked at me.
“I’m sorry I ran from you in the woods. I didn’t know what to think.”
“It’s fine, I understand.” I answered
“I’m fine now. Wow, you can be a speedy little thing when you wanna be.” Mai smiled.
“I didn’t even know I could go that fast.”
“Yeah, it kinda caught me off guard too.” She laughed a little.
“Sorry about that. Do you think we should head to school?” I sighed.
“Do we have to?”
“I guess not.”
“Really?!”
“I guess it would probably be good not to considering how I’ve been acting today.”
“Yeah, but I’m not going to leave you when something doesn’t feel right.”
“Just promise you’ll run if I go to hit you.”
“I-I’ll try. I just, I trust you so much. But I’ll run away if I have to.”
“Thank you.”
“Of course Takumi.” She touched my shoulder then hugged me.
“I want to know what’s going on with me.” I muttered.
“I do too. Do you think it has anything to do with what happened at the lab? W-What if it starts happening to me too…”
“I don’t think-“ I stopped. I heard something coming.
“T-Takumi?” Mai stuttered
“They’re here, come on we have to hide.”
“W-Where?”
“In my parents bedroom closet.” I said pulling Mai into my parents room and into the closet.
“O-Ok.” She started to Panic when we settled into the walk in closet. “This isn’t happening, this isn’t happening…”
“Shhhhhh.” I shushed her and pulled her closer to me. I felt her grip onto my shirt.
“They’re not here.” I heard one of them say. They were upstairs now.
“Did you check in the master bedroom?”
“Yes but no one was there.”
“You idiot, did you check in the closet?”
“No.”
“No, Takumi…” She breathed and I covered us with my wings. “Leave me Takumi, get out of here and just leave me.”
“I’m not leaving you here alone.” I whispered in her ear.
“I found them.” One of the people said and I opened my wings and held onto Mai then ran for the door. The man had a knife and caught my wing and my leg.
