~*Mai*~
“Takumi, hey no don’t!” I said as he fell sideways. He was quiet for a minute and I got up and shook him a little. “Come on Takumi, you’re scaring me, stop playing around…” I said. I reached for my phone, prepared to call 911.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” I heard. Slowly I looked up and saw Takumi looking at me. With bright yellow eyes. Instantly I disappeared and ran. “Oh Mai, don’t be like that.” I heard him say. I hid in the corner of his room and put up a force field around myself, like a small box. “I can hear you breathing. And you’re heart is pounding.” He said. I knew he was in the hall at that point. I held my breath and prayed he wouldn’t come into the room. But he did and looked around, then looked right at me. ‘Wait, he can’t see me, I’m invisible.’ I thought. He slowly started towards me and tisked. “Such tricks Mai, and what is this?” He asked placing his thumb and index finger on the corner of my force field. “This is pretty weak.” He snapped his finger and thumb together, and shattered my force field. I sprang up and bolted for the door, realizing my invisibility somehow didn’t affect him. He grabbed my wrist and squeezed it so I couldn’t get free.
“What do you want from me?!”
“For you to stop running.” He answered.
“Takumi told me to run if this happened, let go.”
“No I told you to stop running.” He continued.
“I said let go!” I pulled on my arm to get him to let me go, but instead he pulled me in closer and wrapped his free arm around my waist. “What are you doing?!”
“I told you to stop running.” He repeated.
“Get away from me!” I said, hopelessly struggling against him.
“No.” He leaned in, like he was going to kiss me. I stared crying and turned my head sharply.
“Stop!” Suddenly, he released his grip and was down on the floor. I ran to his bedroom and created a force field at the door. I stayed like that for 5 minutes, and I heard him get up.
“What happened…it feels like I hit a brick wall.” He put his hand on his head. I stayed where I was and didn’t let my force field down. “Mai…” He got up and walked right into the force field and hit the floor. I let down the field but stayed in the corner and cried. “Mai.” He ran over to me. “Mai are you alright?” He asked.
“You , told me to run, if it happened again. But you caught me.”
“I’m sorry Mai. I’m so sorry. I don’t know why it just took over. Maybe I’m just stressed.” He put his head in my lap, and I nodded.
“It’s alright, it just really scared me when you wouldn’t let me go.”
“I’m sorry.”
“It’s ok. It’s, it’s ok.” I repeated.
“I wish I knew what was going on.” He continued.
“Don’t feel bad.”
“I do though. I more or less attacked you.” He tried reasoning with me.
“Stop it. It wasn’t you.” I said sternly.
“Who else could it have been?” He asked.
“I-I don’t know.” He stood up and walked out of the room and I sat there for another minute or so. ‘I know it isn’t him, it’s all in the eyes and attitude. I can just tell, I get that feeling that I’m not with my Takumi. Could it be that the lab has done something to him?’ I wondered. I went to the living room and saw him sitting on the couch, bent over with his face in his hands, his elbows resting on his knees. “Takumi, come on now, I’m ok, and you’re back to normal. I promise I’m not angry.” He shook his head and I went over to him and pushed him up and back. He blinked at me and I smiled.
“Mai?” He questioned.
“Don’t be so hard on yourself.” I jumped on to his lap and hugged him. He hugged back and I smiled again. “We’ll just take these things as they come.” Suddenly the door burst open.
“HELLO TAKU-” We looked over and saw Haru, standing there, arms in the air and in mid sentence. He turned around fast. “I uh…well, sorry about this…this intrusion…” I instantly started laughing and so did Takumi.
“It’s ok Haru, we were just hugging.” I explained.
“Oh.” He turned back around. “I didn’t realize you would be here so soon Mai.” He noted.
“It’s ok.” I smiled. Aki came in right after my sentence.
“This is why I tell you to knock first, that saves the whole awkward factor.” She sighed.
“Hehe sorry dear.” He chuckled awkwardly.
“You know Haru, she’s right.” Takumi said pulling me up as he stood.
“Yeah yeah I know, as always.” Haru eyed Takumi strangely.
“Yeah, because we could have been doing this when you barged in instead.” Quickly Takumi made his wings appear and wrapped them around both of us.
