Detective Novel Chapter 2

Chapter 2: Mink

The girl walked along the street looking at all the numbers on the doors of the houses “56, 58, 60, 62! Here it is” she grinned nastily and rubbed her ear it had been itching a lot recently she changed herself to look like a small child maybe about 6-7 with pigtails and a pretty little dress she made her eyes look blotchy and red before knocking on the door to number 62 she knocked 4 times rather franticly the person opened the door almost immediately “Darling your home!” said a middle aged woman smiling then she stopped and gasped “oh dear sorry I was expecting my son home from boarding school today” she looked the small girl up and down and saw her eyes full of tears “oh dear” she said again “are you ok my dear? What’s wrong? Oh dear come in, come in ill make you some hot chocolate!” she led the young girl into her home “what’s your name?” she asked kindly, Mink sniffed dramatically and said “my mummy’s gone!!!” and burst into tears. Mink had to wait for the son to come home, she had chosen today for that reason, she needed them to both be in the house before killing them she had to keep stalling “I was in the park with my mummy and, and I was on the slide and she, she said I sh-should get off because we were going, going home” good she thought talk slowly repeat words to sound scared it’ll take up time, damn she thought she had timed it right so the son would be home she hadn’t thought about this and she was paying for it now trying to make up a story off the top of her head wasn’t easy Pizie’s weren’t creative creatures “I- I dint want to go coz, coz I was with my best friend Peter and, and it was still early, but mummy said we had to, had to go home and, and, and…” she paused to avoid suspicion she sniffed and rubbed her eyes as if it was getting to the dramatic part “and she walked off while I wasn’t, wasn’t looking and, and I gots left behind” she started crying again
“there there” shushed the woman “don’t worry I'm sure I can help you find your mother” she smiled encouragingly.
After Mink had finished eating some fruit cake and had “calmed down” the door rang “oh that must be James!” she cried excitedly and ran to open the door the guy James was tall and there was no way she would be able to hit him on the head from her height, she would have to change to being her actual height, which wasn’t that tall anyway but it would be easier, she had looked around for weapons whilst eating cake, there was a poker in the fireplace knives in the kitchen.
That had definitely gone terribly wrong Mink walked down the street covered in blood and bruises she had been lucky to get out alive why had he done that? That, that Bastard how dare he mess with Mink, she was doing the right thing but, she thought with despair there was no way she could defeat him and now he was on her trail she could smell him.
