A thought

It's so stupid that Shakespeare would be considered high literature. The guy wasn't trying to get into the history books. He was making a living. He was an entertainer. He wasn't writing for rich, scholarly types. He was writing for the uneducated lower class, which is why his plays are full of dirty jokes. It makes you wonder what else will be high literature in a few centuries. Futurama maybe. Scripts from Season Two would be standard high school texts. English majors would stay up late writing papers about how Doctor Zoidberg is a metaphor for the anguish and bewilderment of man. "Bite my shiny metal ass" would be a really clever, highbrow insult. Wouldn't that be great?
