Goichi Suda has the Wii itch. His new sequel, No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, is a Wii exclusive in 2010.
he trailer for No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle is only a day old, but already creator Goichi Suda (Suda51) is out making the rounds and dropping hints about the sequel, and where it might end up.
For Xbox 360 or PS3 owners, this is part where you avert your eyes, as Suda heavily hinted, and all but confirmed, that the Wii is the only console he believes can handle his vision when this title when it arrives in mid-2010.
"We wanted to do it for the Xbox 360," Suda said in an Kotaku interview at TGS. "But the Wii's motion controlled interface feels the best."
But, how about a port in the future, or a timed exclusive? Not looking good, according to Suda himself. "We don't have plans for an Xbox 360 No More Heroes. There is nothing of that sort scheduled in our development cycle," he said.
And, taking a page from High Voltage and The Conduit, Suda touted the hidden graphics potential of Nintendo's little white console. "There's still room for the Wii's graphics to get better and better," Suda said.
WipEout HD Freezes
Got a lot of PSN friends? Well, you can't play this game.
by Greg Miller
October 3, 2008 - Downloadbale content can be a funny thing. Sure, it's great to be able to get a game instantaneously, but sometimes things can go wrong. That appears to be the case with WipEout HD.
Some users -- including IGN's own Greg Miller and Jeff Haynes -- are having the game freeze their PlayStation 3s at the main menu and deny them the joys of futuristic racing. Internet reports and the experience of IGNers imply that the problem has to do with the number of folks on your friends list. When Jeff's PSN list was under 50 people, he could play WipEout HD without a problem. Once he added a dozen or so, WipEout refused to load. Greg has nearly 100 people on his list and has been unable to play the game since its launch.
Sony isn't prepared to comment one way or another on the friends list issue, but the company did release the following statement.
"Following the release of WipEout HD on PLAYSTATION Store recently, we've been following the reports by some members of the community regarding problems with game freezes," the statement reads. "We'd like to reassure you all that the WipEout team is working hard to resolve this issue as quickly as possible."
Nintendo unveils DSi with bigger screens, SD slot, DLC shop
The rumors proved correct Wednesday evening as Nintendo revealed their latest handheld, called the DSi. Nintendo's latest handheld is a secret no longer.
At a Japanese pres event late last evening, the Kyoto-based video game company revealed for the first time the DSi, a sort of uber-DS complete with bigger and brighter screens, an SD slot, integrated browser and a digital camera.
According to a translation of the event, the audio capability has been improved as well, with a new speakers and audio playing software for Mp3s and other audio content.
Perhaps the biggest surprise about the all-but-confirmed system was the fact that the SD card will also bring downloadable content to the system. The pricing for the content mimics the Wii online service, with "prices ranging from free to 200 points, 500 points and Premium or 800 points.
Customers will receive 1000 free points with the purchase of the system that are good at the "DSi Shop" until March 2010.
The DSi will be released on November 1 in Japan for about $180. There was no word on a North American release date.

by Jack DeVries
October 2, 2008 - Consumers that purchase the $30 Wii Speak microphone peripheral for the Wii will be able to immediately use it for more than Animal Crossing, according to Nintendo.
The microphone comes with a code that unlocks the Wii Speak Channel, a chat system for the Nintendo Wii.
Up to four players can chat together on the Wii Speak Channel at no charge.
The user's selected Mii appears in the channel, mimicking the user's mouth to make it appear as if the avatar is speaking.
The channel also allows user to leave audio messages to other users, as well as make audio captions for their stored photos.
The Wii Speak Channel launches November 16.
Brett Ratner Confirms God of War Movie
Now I don’t know if Brett Ratner is dreaming of becoming the next Uwe Boll or what, but as far as I can tell, he’s made mention that he wants to direct two movies based on videogames — “God of War” and “Guitar Hero”. When the whole “God of War” rumor surfaced a while back, it was just a rumor. Now, er, not so much. Brett Ratner has confirmed that he will, indeed, be directing a movie version of the game “God of War”, which as far as I can tell, is about some tattoo dude who, like, beats people up in Ancient Rome. Or something. Unsurprisingly, I’ve never played the game. Can you tell?
Says UGO (rather snarkily, I might add):
We caught up with him recently and confirmed either your greatest dream or biggest fear: Brett Ratner is indeed making a movie based on the video game series, God of War. Honestly, I love the Kratos games, however, they aren’t exactly the deepest when it comes to story, so he might just be the right person to handle the film adaptation.
You can see Brett Ratner talking to UGO about waiting for the script for “God of War” to be approved so he can start shooting here.
Meanwhile, here’s a little about what the game is all about:
Unleash the power of the Gods and embark on a merciless quest as Kratos, an ex-Spartan warrior driven to destroy Ares, the God of War. Armed with lethal double chainblades, Kratos must carve through mythology’s darkest creatures - including Medusa, Cyclops, the Hydra and more, while solving intricate puzzles in breathtaking environments. Driven by pure revenge, nothing can stop Kratos from achieving absolution.
The game has already spawn a sequel, the imaginatively titled “God of War 2″.
