When the other team hadn't shown up for a while, I figured we had better go and look. Really, how bad could Chuckles screw it up? It was a bunch of blobs, right?

Secretly, I was worried. Not as much for Charles as my parent's business. And the fact that the coal factory was now the only source of power for her old home. Yeah. That would be a guilt trip.

So we got to the factory, and we see a badly burnt K'satri and a exhausted Jasper dragging an unconscious, badly wounded Charles. It seemed most of the slugs were gone now. But my entire focus changed.

Okay, now I was worried about Charles.

Almost as soon as we got everyone loaded into the car, and once I got Rei under control (poor guy was flipping his sh*t), the crowds came. At first it was just a few people, but then there was more. They were probably all upset about the solar plant.

"What's all this? They don't look like fans..." Jasper asked.

"There not. I'll explain later. Now drive! We need to get him to the hospital!" As we drove, I called Captain Terse. She told us to take him to one of the older hospital.

And then everything seemed to fly. We got him settled in. A friendly doctor was examining the wounds, and when he came out broke the news to all of us listening that his arm would be amputated. Rei's mood took a turn for the worse. We were already working shifts to makes sure the angry crowds outside stayed outside, but now we would need someone watching Charles.

And who better to be there when he woke up than cat boy himself!

"He's up..." Rei noted as he walked out of the room. I had been sitting outside the room. Darn interuptions! I was on level 7 of thumb twiddling! "Sounds like he noticed...I'm gonna go walk around and check to make sure the locks to this sh*t hole are holding up." Lucky him, he didn't have to deal with a freaked out baby with the strength of a bull. Granted a wimpy bull.

"DAMN IT, DAMN IT!" And that was my cue. Me, Seth, and K'Satri all ran into the room. Of course the guy was fine, just freaked out. "WHERE THE HELL IS MY ARM?!"

I held my tongue from a "Not here" remark. Seth yelled at him to calm his sh*t instead.

And then awkward silence.

"You got stuck in some of the leeches trying to get K'satri out. They were able to pull you into the vents. Do you remember any of this?" I finally broke the awkward, explaining it as it was told to me by 'Satri and Jasper.

He hesistated for a seconds that seemed to stretch more minutes. "Only the first part of that." Of course Chuckles would have selective memmory, just remembering his stupid, herioc jump to his death to save the DOD from her own demise. But I really couldn't be mad at this guy. Heck, none of this really involved me now. I felt kind of like an intruder in the topic.

"Jasper was able to get you out, but you sustained severe burns, and all the living tissue in your arm killed." I continued, more quiet now. "It... It had to be amputated. We can use genesis techniques to grow you a new one, but not here."

"What happened to K'satri?" Dear goodness, the way he said that sounded like something out of a movie. And K'satri was hanging back by the door, like a little girl ready to fly to his arms. Wait, what was I saying? I hated cheesy love scenes like that!

"I know you're not shy K'satri, and he ought to know." Seth called to her, and she stepped into view. It was obvious the poor girl was feeling even more awkward than I was, so I chose to speak for her.

"She got 3rd degree burns on her arms, and a concussion from hitting her head. The burns can be treated." Taking my eyes away from the two injured one, I looked around the room instead, realizing I should probably give him a debriefing of the situation. "The hospital were in right now is pretty old. All the equipment is pre-genesis age. So we can't treat you here. While we were here, Service and Magnus's diplomatic relations have completely broken down. The populous of Magnus is panicking and rioting due to this, and... due to power shortages." I grimaced a little, looking down. These guys shouldn't really be blamed for that. It was orders, and I chose to follow them. I guess that's the hard part of being a leader: your decisions drag everyone else down, too. "The rioting is why were in the primitive hospital. We'd be lynched if we go out there. We have two people guarding the entrance at all time in case someone tries to come in."

He looked at the news. "I guess they know what we look like."

"Yeah. Also, don't believe what Rei will be saying. He sat here longer than any of us." I managed to break a small smile. I felt the communicator buzz in my pocket, and gave a small signal for the rest of us to leave. If someone was calling, there was probably an issue, and I didn't want to get Charles upset. "You need your rest." The minute I closed the door, I fumbled for the communicator. Rei was calling.

"What is it, Rei?" I asked, walking quickly down the hall away from the room.

"Someone got in on the east side. I'm going to try to neutralize them before more get in," his voice came through from the other side. I could already here sounds behind him. I was already off, Seth close behind me.

"Don't do something stupid! I'm heading to your position." I told him. God, the last thing I needed was another person injured. It didn't take a shrink to tell me my emotions were out of whack, and who knows how much I had before I went off the edge.

"There's only 2." The line went dead.

Oh that's reassuring.

"C'mon, Seth!" I quickened my step. But I arrived a split second too late. As I turned the corner to see Rei fighting the two off, the gun shot rang out. He tried to turn, but the bullet lodged into his shoulder.

"IDIOT!" I screeched. NO! No, this was not happening! I was not facing another injured team mate!

"You're slow..." he laughed slightly. My eyes widened as his arm started to steam. That's right, his blood was acidic. Oh. SH*T!

My rage blurred my vision. I hadn't felt like this since my younger teen years. My body was out of my control. In less than a second, I had dispatched all three perpetrators.

It took a deep breath, but I got my emotions under control enough to deal civilly with cat boy.

"I understand you feel bad, but trying to lose your arm to match your boyfriend is a little too much don't cha think?" I rolled my eyes. He just smiled as he pulled out his cartilizer, closing the wound.

"Guess that's what I get for trying to be nice...I shoulda just beat the s*it outta em and relieved my anger...." At least he still had some humor left in him. Letting out a sigh, I turned away from him, my wings nearly smacking his face.

"Just... please don't scare me like that again. Two wounded soldiers are bad enough." My voice was quiet. Composing myself, I turned back to him. "In any case, we better clean up that blood and your skin. We'll see if that doctor can spare any more assistance. C'mon. Seth, stay here and make sure no one else gets in." I shot a glare at Rei, then rubbed the inner edges of my eyes with my thumb and forefinger. "And when I say don't do something stupid, I mean it."

Awe, poor Des is worried about her team! xD She's probably too upset to even scold Rei that much!

Des: You're a luck man, cat boy. In any other situation, if that bullet hadn't killed you, I would have finished the job. >C

Me: <.< I think she means it...

Des: OF COURSE I MEAN IT! D<

Me: So violent... SO ANYWAY. There. Rei can discuss his wound clean up and alone time with Des~ *eyebrown wiggle*

Des: O-O what do you mean with that? AND STOP WITH THE EYEBROWS! That's just creepy!

Me: *continuous eyebrow wiggle* S:)
