He was so freaking infuriating! "D*mn cat boy... freaking acid blood... cigarettes... sweetheart..." I muttered angrily, as I marched down the hall. At one point, a nurse stopped me and asked if she should take my temperature because my face was bright red. Too embarrassed to answer, I quickly shook my head and walked off.
Suddenly, the screams outsided intensified. Did they break in somewhere or what? Finding the nearest window, the crowd was in total chaos. But they seemed more afraid than anything. They parted enough just to get my a glimpse of someone. With bright red hair. And a white outfit. Oh. Oh god.
Before I could move, there was a huge ball of fire flying toward me. Barely managing to duck, the window exploded in ward, the fire disappating outside.
Large, half melted but still sharp pieces of glass were scattered around me. Adrenaline still pumping, I moved to the side of the window before fully standing back up. Checking my wings, I saw the glass before I felt it. There were multiple pieces of glass melted into some of the feathers, and red blood told me they had pierced skin as well.
And then it hit as the adrenaline faded. My wings erupted in burning pain. Feathers tugged by the weight of molten glass. Miniscule pieces were scattered out of sight. It was all I could do to grit my teeth and stop from screaming.
"Des! We have a-" Charles voice yelled at me, but cut off when he saw me.
"The Stern, I know." I grunted out. "You shouldn't be up right now. I'll call the others. We'll leave right away." A blast of heat told me that SHE was still out there. Fai Zuinir. The Stern was not here to help us. Not the way we were hoping for. Before Charles could object, I pulled out my communicator, and sent a message to everyone, telling them to gather by the main entrance.
"Now, this way," I started walking off, past Charles. My wings refused to be held up as they usually were, and dragged behind me, leaving a small trail of red.
