“Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace”
1962. The year the SEALs became active and the year that Wal-mart opened it’s first set of doors. This was the beginning of one of the greatest, and safest, jets in existence. The rise of the Concorde was also one of it’s faults however, leading to it’s fall. The ‘Rise and Fall’ of the Concorde put it in the history books as a number of firsts.
Two fronts set off with one thing in mind; to revolutionize the passenger jet industry. France and Great Britain on one side, and America on the other. This competition is the drive that gave birth to the two jets that have carved their names in history. The Concorde from Europe and the 747 from America- today’s most common passenger jet. The now fallen legend, the Concorde, was the epitome of grace and speed. This was at a large, massively large, price-$1.75 billion in production and $500 million a piece to make. The 747, much cheaper and far more efficient, would later win the race to the top: the Concorde was set the standards for safety and elegance in flight for years to come.
