I decided that I should get a Wacom Tablet of some sort, to have more fun and keep me motivated as I improve my art skills considerably (starting relatively low-level). After research I've decided to attempt to get a Wacom Bamboo Capture at some point ^^
I was looking around for some free software to compliment Windows Paint, SAI and GIMP (I use Windows and Apple operating systems on my Mac in compatibility mode via Parallels) and found the Inklet tool that enables your trackpad to function similarly to a tablet. I'm using the free version until I acquire the expensive tablet later on.
If anyone has experience with tablets or digital art software-free or not, I would appreciate some advice since I'm relatively new to it : )
