Okey dokey! I'm 15 years old and I live with my parents and older brother, along with a pet dog. I'm half Japanese, half French. My dad is Japanese and my mom is French. I have long black hair, tied into pigtails, and my eyes are brown. I take after my dad. My older brother takes after my mom, seeing that he has blond hair and blue eyes. My name is Tanaka Haruhi.
It was quiet. The ticking of the clock was the only thing that could be heard in the dark bedroom. Until.. "Good morning dear brother of mine!!" A young girl around the age of 15 yelled out in cheer joy. She opened the curtains and jumped on the bed afterwards.
A head popped up from under the sheets as the person grumbled deeply. "Give me 10 minutes, Haru.. No.. 2 hours." The guy retorted before turning on his side. The girl laughed slightly as she pulled on her brother's blanket.
"Come on Hideki. Get up. I'm running late."
She kept pulling on the blanket, but her brother held the other end and didn't let go. "Would you let go now? You said yourself that you were running late." Hideki yawned loudly. "I need you to drive me. Dad said it was okay for you to do so."
The girl pulled with all her might. Hideki dropped the blanket, leading for the poor girl to land on her rear end.
"Oww.. You could have given me a warning." She pouted. Her brother just grinned widely and got out of bed. He discarded his shirt halfway when his sister threw a pillow against his head.
"And most importantly. Warn me when you get dressed!" She retorted with a smile, even though she wanted to appear mad.
"This is my room. I can do whatever I want here. If my good looks disturb you that much, you leave." He snickered out as Haruhi stuck her tongue out at him. "Good looks? Yeah right.. Just hurry up and get dressed. I'll be downstairs." She said while closing the door behind her. Hideki shook his head at his little sister.
"She's so easy to tease.."
In the meantime, Haruhi already pranced around in her school uniform. Today was her first day at Kaibara High and she wanted to make a good impression. As she was about to take a bite in the apple she was holding, someone had to snatch it away from her.
"Hey! That's my breakfast!" She snapped at her brother.
He was fully dressed this time, wearing a simple jeans and a shirt with a silver necklace to top it off. He took a bite and stared her down. "What are you wearing? Are you trying to scare my new friends away?" She retorted in disbelief.
"Actually.. I am. Especially boys." He blurted out with his mouth full. "Never mind. How do I look?" Haruhi asked Hideki. "You look annoying."
A sweat-drop appeared on Haruhi's head upon hearing her brother's comforting words. "Thanks..." "You’re welcome. Where's Mom?" He asked her. "She's walking the dog. And Dad left for work. You’re the only one who can give me a ride to school." She answered.
Hideki just shrugged and walked outside with the car keys. Haruhi ran after him. They got into the car and fastened their seatbelts.
"You got everything you need? Didn't forget anything?" He spoke up while starting the car. "Yep! I got everything with me! I'm ready to start the day!" She cheered happily as her pigtails bounced up and down. Hideki rolled his eyes at his sister and faced the road.
"You’re a little too exited if you ask me. You’re like a time bomb that's about to explode." He retorted with a smile. "You can say whatever you want. But you won’t bring me down today!" She smiled brightly.
A few minutes later, Hideki parked the car on the side of the road. Haruhi got out of the car with her backpack on her shoulder. "Hey! Be on the lookout for boys! I know what their after!" Hideki yelled out to her.
"I'll be happy if I make any friends today, let alone find a boyfriend, Onii-chan." She pointed out as Haruhi went to mingle with the other students.
"I'm serious! No boys on your first day!" He demanded with a grin. "Who am I kidding. She's not gonna listen to me."
You’re POV:
I walked around in a daze, not really knowing where to go. "This school really is big from the inside." I muttered out as I slowly walked forward. The other students were busy chatting and getting to know each other more, making me feel a little discouraged already.
"Look out!" I heard a guy yell out to me as another guy jumped over me on his skateboard. I managed to duck just in time. "What kind of school is this?" I asked myself while I stared at the two boys in the distance.
"Oi.. You okay?" I looked up and faced the person, only to see a girl with long blonde hair who was staring me down.
"H-hai? I'm o-okay.. Somehow." I stuttered. The girl got closer as her gaze deepened. "That's good to hear!" She slapped me on my back, making me jump up. "Tohru!! She's okay!" She shouted out to someone. A brunette with blue eyes, about the same height as me, came running up to us in a hurry.
"Ah! Thank goodness! I was so worried!" I just blinked a few times at her statement. "Y-yes. I'm fine now. Those boys managed to warn me before hand." I bowed deeply to show my respects. I don't want to make enemies on my first day after all.
"Ano.. Are you perhaps.. New here?" The girl asked me. Yes I am! I don't know where my class is. And this school is so big. I might get lost." The blonde held me in a tight grip as she smiled cheerfully. "Don't worry. We'll help you out." I tried to get out of her steel grip, but she was just too strong.
"My name's Honda Tohru. And this is Uotani Arisa. But I just call her Uo-chan!" She exclaimed cheerfully. I paused for a minute and just blinked a few times.
"Ano.. Sono.." I began to blabber, feeling a little embarrassed. "Tanaka Haruhi-desu... But you can call me Haru for short." I introduced myself with a little bow.
"Enough with the bowing. Were friends now, aren't we?" Arisa messed up my hair while I just stared her down with a sweat-drop attached to my head. "We just met…" I whispered out, but she didn't care.
I handed a piece of paper over to Tohru, which contained all of my info of where I should be. Tohru read between the lines. The more she read, the more depressed she got.
"Is something wrong?" I asked her. Tohru bursted out in tears. "She's not in our class!" She cried out. "Even though you’re not in our class, I'll be happy to help." She spoke up happily as her tears stopped flowing. The next minute, she cheered up entirely and dragged me to my class… I hope.
"Let's go!!"
After a few minutes of walking around in the hallway, Tohru halted to a stop in front of a group of students. Arisa just yawned in boredom. "So she's a classmate of the two Sohma nephews, huh?" She began to say.
Tohru nodded happily. Before I knew it, I saw her run into the crowd of students who were running around like they were possessed or something.
I grew concerned for her well-being and was about to dive in, but Arisa stopped me by placing her hand onto my shoulder. "She'll be fine. Tohru is just getting two of your classmates. We know them pretty well." She reassured me. I took her word for it and just stood there, not doing anything.
A few seconds and a lot of shouts later, Tohru appeared from out of the crowd, holding the hands of two boys. Although... I must say that the blonde looks kind of girlish for a boy. The other one had white hair and black roots, making me wonder if he's in a gang of some sort.
"Ohaiyo Uo-chan!!" The little boy cried out in delight. "Ohaiyo Momiji. You seem rather exited, as always." She smiled warmly at the boy. I just stood there with my eyes all bulged out from surprise.
"Are you a high scholar?! You’re so small!" I piped up while pointing at him. He seemed rather hurt by my statement and hid behind Tohru.
"I'm not small.. I'm a big boy." He mumbled out. Tohru just smiled at him, making the boy all happy and chipper again. "Is this the girl you wanted us to meet, Tohru?" The other guy began to say in a surprisingly calm voice.
"Hai-desu! This is Tanaka Haruhi-chan. She's in your class!"
I didn't quite understand why Tohru was so exited around this guy. He faced me and walked over to me. I jumped up and hid behind Arisa, being afraid that he might do something to me.
"What are you doing?" Arisa asked me. "He's going to..." I looked up at the guy, only to see that he held out his hand for me to shake. "Sohma Hatsuharu… Nice to meet you, Tanaka Haruhi." He spoke up with that blank look on his face.
"I.. I thought.." "That he was going to do you harm? That's crazy. This guy might seem like a thug at first glance. But he's a friendly person." Arisa explained. I felt embarrassed. Judging a person based on their appearance. I never did that before.
"N- nice to meet you, Hatsuharu." I took a hold of his hand, even though my body was still shaking. "She's cold." Hatsuharu piped up blankly as he still held onto my hand. "I want to shake hands with her too!!" The little one yelled out as he popped up in front of me.
"Haru-chan.. This is another classmate. Meet Momiji Sohma. He's Hatsuharu's nephew. They’re the same age as you." Tohru informed me with a smile. I stepped backwards with my arms covering most of my eyesight. "15 years.. Old?" My eye twitched slightly.
"Oh mon dieu.." I said, surprising everyone around me. "What did you say?" Arisa already raised her fist at me. I just waved my hands around in a nervous state. "No! No! That was French! I didn't mean anything by it! I swear!" I spat out. Arisa lowered her fist with a smile.
"You're French?" Tohru questioned me. "N-not really.. My Mom's French. I'm.. A half-blood." I explained. "So am I! Ich bin so glücklich!! Wir haben etwas gemeinsam!!" (I am so happy!! We have something in common!) Momiji jumped up and down. I just sweat-dropped, not really understanding him.
"Mögen Sie Süßigkeiten? Oder macht Sie bevorzugen Schokolade." (Do you like candy? Or do you prefer chocolate.) My eyes turned into little wirllies as I had trouble keeping up with the blonde boy.
"It's not fun if you don't say something in your language." He muttered out.
Hatsuharu held Momiji back, which I was glad for. "So you can speak French, huh? That's handy." Arisa spoke up. "This is from France." Hatsuharu showed his necklace to me. I just nodded, not knowing what else to do. "And this is from France." He twirled a pen around with his fingers. Again, I nodded at him.
"This also is from Fra-"
"I get it now! Everything is from France!" I interrupted him. "Don't be silly. There are other countries in the world. Not only France." Hatsuharu retorted. I just slapped myself in the face at his answer.
"Ne! Ne! Say something else in French!" Tohru insisted. I backed away from her a little and just nodded. "What do I have to say?"
"My shoes smell.." Hatsuharu suggested as he stared down at his feet. It didn't really sound like a suggestion. I really think he's just telling the truth! Tohru and Arisa agreed with his decision."Sounds good to me." "Yeah.. Try it out Haru-chan." I just laughed nervously. How could they ask me to say that?
"Mes chaussures sentent…"
Tohru smiled brightly upon hearing what I just said. Arisa just laughed loudly, not even bothering anymore. Hatsuharu just raised his thumb at me, making me feel even more stupid. "Sur quand ce jour sera-t-il." (When will this day be over..) I whispered, already feeling the need to go home.
The bell rang loudly, warning us to get back to class. "Well... I got a good feeling about you, freshman." Arisa slapped my back harshly. I just nodded, not wanting to make her mad again.
"We’ll be going now. I can't wait to tell Yuki-kun and Kyo-kun about you, Haru-chan!" She hugged me tight and ran off, along with Arisa. I just blinked a few times, not really knowing what just happened.
"Gehen einordnen!!" (Let's go to class!!) Momiji yelled out as he stomped happily into class. Hatsuharu followed him. I just stood there with a dazed expression on my face. Hatsuharu turned around and faced me.
"He said to go to class. Don't worry. You'll get used to Momiji's way of talking soon enough." Hatsuharu spoke up with a smile. "Ah.. But doesn't he realize that I can't understand the German language. I can speak fluent Japanese, you know."
"I can see that." He retorted.
"Umm.. Is it really true that you guys are related to one another?" I asked him. He just pushed me in the classroom, already tired of waiting. "Just wait when you meet the whole family."
Somehow… I felt a little scared at his statement. It's not like his family is bigger than mine. But if he did have a big family, they would be polite and caring.
I think.. I hope..
