I really can't wait to find out who this guy is! He has a colored chibi, so he must be important.
Update: The new guy
For those of you who haven't seen yet, the new character is the Roman emperor Nero. My theory was pretty far off, then. Also, his character design has been recolored pretty majorly. I'll add a picture here.
No, that is not 2p!Italy. His eye color, hair color, and skin tone are all those of normal Italy, which is further confirmed by his facial expression. However, there is actually another new guy who hasn't been explained, he's also in the picture. I'm fairly sure that he is another Roman emperor, though I'm not sure which one. In the latest strip, an unidentified emperor is shown, and he looks pretty much just like this fellow, right down to his facial expression! All it says about him was that he had a handsome face, but he was rubbish for a few years and ended up in the Tiber. If anyone has any idea which emperor this would be, then please let me know!

NEW HETALIA SERIES
Well, as you may have heard, Hetalia's getting a biweekly serial in Shounen Jump! This is a huge deal, and comes with a big mystery: Who is the guy with Italy?
I've seen speculation that it could be Grandpa Rome, Byzantine, Julius Caesar (Caesar-Salad-kun XD), or Etrusca. Well, he's not Grandpa Rome, he looks nothing like him! He is probably not Byzantine, since Byzantine was mentioned to be Greece's mom, and we already have a hypothetical sketch showing a woman with a Greece curl who appears to be the possible Byzantine/Ancient Greece. Could it be Julius Caesar? It wouldn't be the first time a historical character has been included. (Think Jeanne D'Arc here, people!) However, in my opinion, Etrusca is the most likely guess. Etrusca was a predecessor state to Rome. The clothing would make since for Etrusca, and so would the golden laurels. Not only that, it has been rumored that the new serial will have a lot of the Ancients in it. (I sure hope so!) However, it can't be helped that we don't know for sure.
