Part 3: Ice
Chapter 1: Yugi
An eerie feeling filled the room where the teen lied. The night was as usual in Domino city: a cold and starry night. Tonight the moon showed.
The boy had red, yellow, and black hair that stood on end. Yugi sighed. Alone again, he thought. How's Atem doing? Yugi had fallen asleep like this every night.
The next morning, Yugi woke to the smell of pancakes. A new day! I wonder what lies in store? he thought. Yugi got dressed and headed down stairs.
In the kitchen Yugi's grandfather was serving a guest. This early in the morning?
The guest was a middle school student with brown hair that was pulled back in a blue ribbon and had wide green eyes.
"Would you like some more, Ms. Minka?" Yugi's grandpa asked the girl.
"No thanks, Mr. Motou," the girl answered.
"Well, Yugi should be-" the old man began but was cut off by Yugi.
"Ah, Grandpa? I'm right here," Yugi interrupted.
"Oh! Well, Yugi! This young lady wanted to see you!" Grandpa Motou began. "She was waiting outside since who knows when! I thought that she might as well eat since she came here so early.
Turns out she's from that school that was burned to the ground. She's lit up when I mentioned Duel Monsters. A beginner, eh? Why don't you teach her?"
Yugi remembered that school that was mentioned only a week or two ago. Poor girl, Yugi thought.
"Well, I'll go open up shop!" Grandpa Motou exclaimed as he looked at the time. He stalked out of the kitchen.
"So your Yugi Motou?" the girl asked.
"That's right. I'm Yugi Motou," Yugi replied.
"I've heard a lot about you from my classmates," the girl said. "A famous Duel Monsters player: The King of Games! I can't believe I'm meeting you in person." The girl's voice was casual, like she was talking to a life long friend about a common conversation then a celebrity. "But that's not exactly why I'm here." she added.
"So, then what brings you here, Ms. Minka?" Yugi asked.
The girl held up her hands. "Please don't call me Ms. Minka. My name's Kara Minka."
Yugi smiled. "What brings you here, Kara?" Yugi asked again.
"Well… I'm looking for something. Assistance in saving the world," she said, thoughtfully. Yugi noted she was trying to not sound crazy.
Yugi shook his head. "Sound crazy, don't I?" Kara laughed.
Yugi shook his head again. "No, not crazy," he assured her. "Not the first time I had to save the world."
Kara stared at Yugi as if she had bee electrified. "'Not the first time'?" she repeated, confused.
"Yeah. I've saved the world– oh, where should I begin?" he began and paused. Yugi began to list off different adventures that he'd been on to save the world. "Well, there was that time with Anubis, the Battle City tournament, Zorc–"
"I think I get it," Kara said, cutting him short.
"Well, what is it this time I have to do?" Yugi asked.
"It's not just you," Kara half laughed. "Replace I with we and we're getting somewhere."
"'We'?" Yugi asked, a little relieved. Not alone. "How many are there for this?"
Kara held up four fingers. "There are four of us," Kara said. "You and I are some of them. The third is outside doing a check of the area. The fourth we need to find."
Yugi sat down. "Well, please begin at the beginning."
