Dreams

Miss Hayman was off on one of her long rants again, and I felt that it wouldn't be too terribly horrible if I just bent the reality just a teeny tiny bit... Right? It's not like I would miss anything extremely important in the next five minutes. I nodded confidently to myself.

First, let me explain! My special power was the ability to warp realities! So really, if life was getting boring, I could always just make it better! But there was one minor setback... I could only bend the reality for five minutes, then it would fade away and take me back to the original reality I was in before. Which, if you asked me, kind of sucked. Actually, it really sucked.

I glanced around the classroom at the other digits. But only one of them caused my eyes to linger. That person was digit seven, Fox. His golden hair fell into his eyes, and he looked obviously bored. Feeling a smile growing on my face, I turned back around in my chair and leaned back, closing my eyes.

Already, I could feel myself leave the classroom (Not physically, but mentally) and go somewhere else completely. My mind was cleared of all the stress that had built up inside of me, and I was able to relax. Of course, I brought myself to the same place I always came to when I was feeling bored; a grassy field, dotted with sunflowers and lilacs. As the reality faded in, I found myself sitting on the swing under my favorite oak tree, blowing bubbles from a small container.

I kicked my legs back and forth, the swing carrying me higher and higher, almost to the point that my head could brush the tips of the leaves. Giggling, I sent millions of glittering bubbles skyward with a single breath, and watched as they popped in mid-air. The sweet breeze ruffled my hair, and I checked my watch. My five minutes was up in three... Two... One...

The comforting scene that I had created quietly left me, the wooden swing beneath me slowly taking shape as my desk chair. Without being aware of it, I kept swinging my legs, my foot striking the legs of the desk. Abruptly, I was snapped back to the classroom, my foot tingling with sharp stabbing pain. Wincing, I looked around the class.

It seemed to be over; everyone was walking out of the door. That is, except for Fox and Eternity. I caught a glimpse of Fox swooping down and kissing Eternity's hand, and I could feel my heart skip a couple of beats. Did Fox seriously like Eternity? Before I could let them notice that I was staring at them, I streaked out of the classroom, tears welling up in my eyes.

A couple moments after I had stormed out of the classroom, Eternity flounced out, heading in the direction of the dorms. I hesitated for a moment, waiting to see if Fox would follow her. And he did.

"Wait! Eternity, I have a-" he called out to the brown-haired girl, rushing after her.

It looked like I would have to tag along, if I wanted to see what they were up to. Again, I hesitated. Was it really okay for me to be so nosy about Fox's personal life? Fretting for a moment, I decided to go along with it anyways. Besides, it was only this one time.

My bow at the top of my dress wilted, as it got drenched with the pouring rain. Covering my head with my arms, I broke into a run towards the dorms. Fox and Eternity were quite a ways ahead of me, I couldn't lose sight of them. I caught the entrance door right before it closed behind them, slipping into the warm dimly lit hallway.

As I caught up to them, I noticed there were other digits waiting with Fox and Eternity. They were all clumped around Jett's doorway. I lightly made my way over to them, about to ask what they were doing, when I was interrupted.

"Group hug, anyone?"

Coming over towards us was Fhyre, and he was covered from head to toe in some questionable looking goop.

"Why are we all standing in front of Jett's room?"

Luckily, he asked my question for me.
