♣ Jett ♣

"A plan to escape. From this military base."

I felt my heart stop in my chest. I shot a wary glance at Ayre, calculating the emotions on her face. All I could see was anger and confidence. Typical of her, really. Ayre was probably the easiest digit to read.

Ayre's hands forcefully pushed against my chest, making my stagger backwards into the dorm. Obviously she didn't know that she was using too much force, because before I could catch myself, I completely lost my balance, collapsing onto the ground, Ayre on top of me. Her hands were still firmly planted on my chest. Opening my eyes, I found Ayre gazing at me, her eyes glazing over, and the hint of a blush forming on her cheeks. Ayre's pink hair hung in messy ringlets, framing her face, the tips brushing my cheek.

Involuntarily, I found myself gazing right back. I tried to force myself to look away, but it was more difficult than I had thought. Since when had I felt like this towards Ayre?! Though I had to admit, she was probably one of the prettiest girls I had ever seen. Wait, what was I thinking?! My heart began to beat faster and faster, until Ayre finally spoke. Her voice sounded distant and fuzzy.

I only caught the last words of her sentence, "- talk to you about!" I caught myself looking away, for fear that I would do something stupid.

Feigning indifference, I pushed Ayre off of me hastily. "Your point?"

Looking back now, I regretted asking that question. Though I hated to admit it, I wish I had just left Ayre on top of me. Pushing those thoughts out of my mind (though not completely out) I concentrated at the task on hand.

Ayre flopped back onto my bed (another place I wished she could stay) with a flounce, stretching her arms back. "Okay, so it's like this: We all use our power for different operations in my plan." Deciding that she couldn't stand still, she picked herself back up, and walked over to all the Digits, clumped together in a tight circle. Eternity struggled to the front of the throng, her hand securely fastened to that nerd, Rhys' hand.

Once again, I froze, as I felt Ayre's hand lay on my shoulder. I couldn't bring myself to look at her, so I just listened to what she was saying. "You are each going to be paired up and given an order. Of course, me and Jett will be the watch people!" Looking down at her, she winked at me, and raised her hand from my shoulder, clenching it into a fist and pumping it in the air. "We're gonna be in charge of 'guard duty!'" Grinning, she spoke to me out of the corner of her mouth. "I figured you would like the idea of knocking people out."

I smirked at her. "You know me so well, don't you?" Shrugging, I shoved my hands in my back pockets. "Though I must say I do that pretty well..."

That earned me a playful punch from the second digit. "I don't know if you should be so sure about that, I'm pretty good to, ya know!" At that, Ayre left my side, and began grouping the digits into pairs.

Greyson and Rhys. Horror lit up inside Greyson's dull eyes, and I could feel myself smirk. I could bet that within ten minutes, Greyson would be ready to kill Rhys.

Ayre grabbed hold of both of Greyson's shoulders and shook him back and forth. "Greyson, you guys are going get the gateway passkey. And I swear, if you kill Rhys, your future might be even darker than it is now." She added a light-hearted giggle after that, which only seemed to make Greyson more pissed off.

Fhyre and Eternity. The jokester who couldn't take anything seriously, and the air-head idiot who didn't know how to do anything right. At this couple, Ayre just looked them head to toe, nodding her head slowly.

"This will have to do, I guess. Okay, you guys are going to be in charge of keeping the army troops off our backs." Under her breath, she added, "That's the only thing that you two won't mess up." I was pretty sure that I was the only one who could hear her.

Saracen and Racquel. Not much to say there, it would be impossible to give them a very important job...

"Your part is distraction." Apparently Ayre thought that this needed some explaining. "Saracen, you can just put the guards under an illusion. Just make sure that they don't know that any of this is going on." She then directed her gaze towards Racquel, though it was pointless, because Racquel was examining her profile in the metal cabinet in the corner. Sighing, she shrugged and moved on.

Juliet and Fox. The braniac and the shapeshifter. Not a bad pair.

Ayre tapped her finger in the middle of Fox's chest. "All you have to do is take the form of one of the guards. Me, Jett, Fhyre, or Eternity will knock one of them out and you can take his or her place. Simple enough, right Fox?"

Fox rolled her eyes. "I'm not THAT stupid Ayre, give me the credit I deserve!" He teased her lightly.

Clapping her hands together, Ayre resumed her place by my side. "This plan is foolproof, as long as each of you does your part." Glancing at the clock by my bed, she cocked her head. "Now would be a good time to start. Do all of you know what you're doing?"

Fox struggled to the front of the group. "What are you talking about, are you crazy?! You just barely came up with this plan, and you're just suddenly putting it into action?! This isn't something that we can just try!"

Ayre glared at him. "It will work as long as none of you mess it up! Do you want to get out of here or not?!" She elbowed me sharply in the ribs, indicating for me to jump in and defend her point.

I cleared my throat and stepped up to Fox. "Just listen to her Fox, and stop being such an asshole!"

Fox stared at me, folding his arms tightly across his chest. "You're calling ME that? I think that would be better applied to you." But he backed down anyway, not mentioning another thing.

When no one else in the group had anything else to say, Ayre nodded at me. "Then what are we waiting for? Let's get out of this prison."
