Don't Stop, Beleivin'!

♦ ♦ Eternity ♦ ♦

It completely broke my heart to see Ayre's tears roll down her cheeks, involuntarily, as her pink hair fell in waves down her back. That's love... I thought quietly, feeling my own eyes beginning to water. Chuckling, I rubbed away the salty wetness and shook my head. Why should I be crying when Ayre's heart was the one shattered?

“I… I’m sorry. I just… Can’t.” After Jett's somber statement, a pin dropping could have been heard throughout the group. Ten teenagers standing stock still; Ayre's tacit sadness saying it all.

As they began kissing, that last forbidden taste of intimacy, I turned away. My own heart was breaking, as delicate flakes of white powder sprinkled my auburn hair.

A low grumble could be heard from Fox as he watched the scene playing out before us, but something held him back from interrupting. Just minutes later--it could have been hours--Ayre returned to our group and we walked away. A feeling of melancholy spread throughout us, as our footsteps took us further and further away from 5 fellow Digits.

"That freakin' bastard! Damn him!" Fox shouted, standing behind Ayre and wrapping his arms around her.

Ayre extracted an arm from Fox's hold and wiped her eyes. She attempted to smile, but the effort went to waste as her chest heaved again. This time the tears spilled over my eyelids and down my cheeks in a flowing river. I couldn't help myself, it was too much to bear!

"What are you crying about?!" Fox exclaimed, his head resting atop Ayre's head.

Ayre giggled slightly as she caught my expression. "Aren't I the broken-hearted one, here?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I-It's just so sad!" I wailed, throwing my arms in the air. "And i-it's not fair, either!"

Fox scoffed, "I'd go back and beat that asshole up if Ayre wouldn't mind, but sometimes life isn't fair..."

Fhyre grinned and rested an elbow on my shoulder. "I could always do little something to their group..."

Ayre shook her head, her eyes finally dry and regaining their brightness. "No, that won't do. If we're going to knock some sense into the fool, we have to do it fair and square!" she declared.

Turning her around, Fox peered at the girl who had been sobbing two seconds ago. "Wait, you mean we're actually going to fight them, or something? I can deal with that!"

I smacked Fox on the shoulder. "Of course we're not going to fight them! Right, Ayre...?"

"No, we're not going to actually knock some sense into them! We're going to show them that their way of thinking is wrong!" Ayre explained. Fox removed his hands from her shoulders and shoved them into his pockets.

"Good idea!" I agreed, pumping my fist into the air. The tears that escaped my eyes were now dried and in the past. There was no going back now. Somehow, someway, we would get Jett to come back to our side.

"Pff, I think Fhyre's idea was better than that..." Fox muttered grumpily.

"Wasn't it?" Fhyre replied, brushing a hand through his hair in an arrogant motion.

"Fools are prohibited from making suggestions," Juliet stated. I had almost forgot she was there!

"C'mon, Juliet, I bet you have a great idea too!" I prodded her. She shook her head quietly and retreated backwards a step.

"It's alright if she doesn't want to speak," Ayre said, placing her hands on her hips. Whether or not her cheery expression was a facade, I knew what had just transpired was set in stone. Her heart would mend eventually, but the scars would forever be there. Even I was smart enough to know that.

"But-"

"Just listen to what she has to say," Fhyre murmured, his mouth suddenly next to my ear. I blushed bright red and sped away towards Ayre, cowering behind her.

Fhyre threw back his head and laughed, high-fiving Fox. "Hey! That was mean!" I complained, pointing a finger at the duo.

"Guys! We have to stay focused!" Ayre scolded us, slapping both Fox and Fhyre on the head.

"Fine, fine," they chimed in unison. Coming closer towards us they pulled Juliet, Ayre, and I into a huddle.

"Alright, so what's the game plan?" I asked, trying to shake the snow that was drifting into my eyes.

"Anyone had spy training here? Cause we're gonna need it," Ayre answered, smirking.

"Spy training?! So we can like, go on missions?!" I wanted to know, excited. This would definitely be fun!

"Yeah, sure, something like that..." she told me. "But anyways, we're going to have to figure out what their plan is before we create ours. And I know the perfect guy for the job." Turning her black eyes on Fox, Ayre smiled mischievously.

"Fine, I'll do it. But you have to give me something in return," he responded, crossing his arms stubbornly.

Ayre nodded firmly, took a step towards Fox and kissed him. I was so startled that I fell backwards and onto the grass. "W-W-W-W-W-What was that?!" I stammered. "Y-You like Jett!"

The second Digit just shrugged. "Jett isn't here right now, and we've got a mission to carry out."

"Now that's what I call payment!" Fox blurted, a gleeful smirk forming on his face.

"I-If it's alright with you," I stuttered. Fhyre patted Fox on the back, congratulating him, while Juliet just stared off into the distance. I wondered what she was thinking. Oh how awesome it would be to have Greyson's power now!

"It sure as hell is alright with her!" Fox cried, holding out a hand to help me up. I stood up and nodded graciously, as Fox transformed into a bird. Luckily there were many birds scattered across the snow-covered field, so he would blend right in.

With a happy chirp, Fox flew off into the sunset. Everyone turned towards him to watch him depart on his secret assignment, and for that reason I was the only one to witness Ayre's final expression before she closed her heart out forever.

Anguish. Agony. Depression. Dejection. Mourning. Misery. None of them compared to the dull lifeless-ness featured in her eyes at the moment.

But she turned those sparkling black orbs up at me and everything was erased instantaneously. I knew the real Ayre was sealed forever. Anyone could have figured that out...

My post!

And your people CAN'T know that Fox is following them. Just pretend like you never even read that part, cause it'd defeat the whole purpose if somehow they magically just know he's there...

Hope ya liked it! ^^
