♠ Juliet ♠
Love; such a useless and disadvantageous emotion. My statement was further proved as the scene of Jett and Ayre's sorrowful split played out before me. Of course, the first Digit's lack of intelligence compelled him to seize control of the human race and therefore command it's most powerful positions of government. Although Ayre did not know it, I was merely joining her side due to my careful calculations supporting her beliefs.
Ayre sobbed pitifully as Jett announced his final decision. As suspected, he bluntly declined her offer to stay with her. Soon after she departed from his embrace and returned to where I, Eternity, Fox, and Fhyre stood. Wonderful; I was surrounded by idiots. How we could possibly achieve anything was beyond me.
“You’re a complete bastard, Jett, you know that?” Fox snapped, turning around and trudging through the snow in order to reach Ayre, who had stalked past us.
Seeing as though Eternity and Fhyre weren't going to move unless instructed to do so, I told them, "Let’s leave these people, we are no longer one."
"That freakin' bastard! Damn him!" I heard Fox shout as I approached him and Ayre. His arms encircled her protectively as she attempted to stop crying.
Eternity's eyes soon began to water, and her facial expression was identical to that of Ayre's in moments. My eyebrow slightly twitched; assisting this girl on Ayre's quest would be no easy task.
"What are you crying about?!" Fox exclaimed irritably. I shared his feelings on this particular subject.
Ayre giggled softly when she glanced at Eternity and asked, "Aren't I the broken-hearted one, here?"
"I-It's just so sad!" Eternity wailed in reply. "And i-it's not fair, either!"
I began to block out their words from my mind in order to gain my composure. The events of the day had worn me out. Certainly we were in no condition to take action immediately, although through the dense forest we were located in, there was no sign of shelter.
"Fools are prohibited from making suggestions," I stated abruptly, as a piece of Fox, Fhyre, Ayre, and Eternity's conversation reached my conscious mind.
"C'mon, Juliet, I bet you have a great idea too!" Eternity said cheerfully. Shaking my head, I took a step backwards.
"It's alright if she doesn't want to speak," Ayre remarked coolly, seemingly recovered from that "heart-wrenching" display of obvious affection between her and Jett.
My thoughts trailed off until I reached complete inner silence. I was allowed a few moments of relaxed peace before Fhyre and Fox herded me into a huddle with Ayre and Eternity. It took the last bit of patience I possessed to refrain from causing a tree to "accidentally" fall atop the four of their heads.
"Alright, so what's the game plan?" Eternity inquired, shaking her head repeatedly. She resembled an animal experiencing a seizure.
"Anyone had spy training here? Cause we're gonna need it," Ayre responded, grinning much too happily for a girl with her heart broken.
"Spy training?! So we can like, go on missions?!" Was Eternity's pointless question. The thought occurred to me that I should have taken duct tape along with me on this escape.
"Yeah, sure, something like that... But anyways, we're going to have to figure out what their plan is before we create ours. And I know the perfect guy for the job," Ayre explained, mischievously looking at Fox. Obviously he would do anything for the girl, although she was probably too ignorant to see this.
"Fine, I'll do it. But you have to give me something in return," Fox replied stubbornly, crossing his arms.
Ayre nodded firmly, took a step towards Fox and kissed him. Somehow I had suspected this would happen from Fox's choice in wording, but Eternity was completely baffled and shocked.
"W-W-W-W-W-What was that?!" she stuttered. "Y-You like Jett!"
The second Digit just shrugged in reply, "Jett isn't here right now, and we've got a mission to carry out."
"Now that's what I call payment!" Fox blurted, like the imbecilic moron that he was.
I averted my gaze and wore a look of pure boredom upon my face. If these fools wanted to engage in such pitiful behavior, I would not be grouped with them. That was unthinkable.
Fox shifted his form into that of a bird and flew away into the distance. From my peripheral vision I glimpsed Ayre's facial expression; resembling a crumbling city or a shattering window.
It was all so sad, but honestly, that was not my problem. The conflict in this story was staying alive throughout this Digit war, and maybe attempting to keep the others alive as well.
Although, that was purely their responsibility...
