Simple: Elimination

☪ Saracen ☪

"We need to take over the world. It's much more than being acknowledged by the humans, we need to seize them and control them. Defeat them. And I know exactly how we're going to do it."

I whimpered as my neck seized with pain; my head had snapped up quite painfully at Jett's mention of defeating the humans. The ones that caused so much more pain than a simple twist of a neck. Pardon my horrible comparison. But that's really how it was!

It felt like my eyes were literally popping out of my head as I gazed at the first Digit in shock and awe. "You're going all the way to defeat? Wouldn't it just be easier if..." I trailed off, my voice ending in a slight squeak as Jett, his dark hair hanging halfway into his murderous eyes, stared me down. I fidgeted uncomfortably in my seat and stared down at my hands, suddenly taking an interest in them. "I... Um... Nevermind?"

"Good answer," Jett snapped, his mood seeping into every empty place. Instead of the clearing being filled with golden sunlight, it seemed like it was taken over by complete darkness. "See, Saracen, do you like being used?" His voice faltered, and it took me a couple of seconds to realize that he was asking me a serious question, and he expected me to answer him.

"Uh..." Whatever I said, it would probably get shot down, no matter if it was the right or wrong answer. Taking a couple extra precautions, I scooted closer to Racquel. If Jett tried to hit me or something, maybe he would miss and hit the eighth Digit? I gulped and finally replied with a feeble, "I don't."

"And do you like being taken advantage of?"

Wasn't that kind of the same question? Too afraid to even talk to the Digit, I shook my head a couple of times, then curled myself so that I was able to hug my knees. I craned my neck up so that I could see Jett's face, as he stood up from his sitting position.

He began to pace the small space that we were all gathered in, his hands clasped behind his back. I snickered quietly to myself; maybe the General's personality had rubbed off on Jett? My laugh went unnoticed, thankfully. "What is the first step in every master plan? Rhys?"

Rhys let out a sort of a... Snort, as he startled at the mention of his name. He sent a sideways glare at me as I choked back a chuckle, sunlight glinting off of the rim of his thick glasses, threatening to permanently blind me. "Eliminate all of the enemies... Uh, sir... Digit? One?"

Jett rolled his blood-red eyes at Rhys's pathetic attempt to address him correctly. Sighing, he ran a pale hand through his tousled hair and squinted his eyes shut. "Yes, eliminate them. The first thing we would have to do, of course is take out the military. All the military weaponry in the world."

Greyson scoffed under his breath, only loud enough for me to hear. "As if anyone here is capable of doing that. Good luck, Sherlock."

"Shut up, Watson," Jett countered, then got back to business. It was as if nothing had ever happened. I had to admit, though, that was a pretty good comeback. Sorta... Well for a guy who had just made the hardest decision of his life, it was pretty good. Maybe I should get back to listening.

"- Take out the governments. Murder them or something. But doing it one by one would take too much time, this needs to be fast. Any ideas on how to do that?"

Confused, I still raised my hand hesitantly. "I uhm... Couldn't we make up some sort of... M-mandatory gathering for all of the... Uhm... L-leaders?" Why was I so nervous? Was I really meant for being on this side of the war? Was I even capable of... Killing someone!? "I-I have my... Illusions, I could... Do... Something."

Jett nodded, considering my offer for a moment. “Not bad…” In a sudden atmosphere change, the Digit slammed his fist forcefully on the trunk of a nearby tree. “But how do we do this all!?! We’ve got the ideas, I’ll give you guys credit for that, but we don’t have the f*cking ability to even carry out this plan!

Taken aback by Jett’s sudden “outburst,” I looked away. My ears burned, as I realized what he said was pretty much completely true. We didn’t have the resources to make this all come together, we still had a lot of things to go over. And our powers weren’t all too great… I mean, reality shaping, power draining, mind reading, power mimicry, and duplication? The odds weren’t in our favor this time around.

Probably because his heart was still being wrecked, Jett held up a hand. “Let’s get some rest, we can think about this tomorrow when I’ve got my head on straight.”

This was completely out of character for such a strong willed person, and I felt a pang of sadness strike my heart. Resting on a broken heart wouldn’t be able to help the first Digit at all, it would take a lot more time than that. Whatever though, I wasn’t going to fight him on that. In fact, I had only just now noticed how dark it had grown outside, the sun was already set, the chirping of the birds had faded away.

I rubbed my arms up and down in an attempt to warm them.

Racquel yawned and stretched her arms out dramatically, almost hitting my in the face. “Well I guess this girl is going to need her beauty sleep!”

I looked around the tiny clearing. “Where are we even going to sleep?!”

Greyson raised an eyebrow (even though it was hard to tell through his messy bangs), and pointed to the ground only feet away from where we were sitting. “It’s called grass. Very comfortable, I hear it got 5 stars last year. Maybe they’ll leave chocolates on your section.”

“Your sarcasm isn’t appreciated, Three,” Racquel apprehended the boy, laying down on her side and rolling into a tight little ball.

I followed suit, and soon our group of five was huddled close together in the grass. It was so quiet that I could hear the inhaling and exhaling of every single other Digit. The breathing got slower and slower, until everyone but me drifted into an awkward sleep. The shadows seemed to jump out from every corner, and my eyes darted around. I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was watching us, spying.

A nearby bush rustled, and I bolted upright, searching for the source. The last thing I saw was the bright orange tail belonging to a slender fox.

This sucked. I apologize.

I couldn't think of a real plan, so you'll have to settle with this for now ^^;
