‡ Fox ‡
I smugly flapped my wings as I headed in the direction I thought Jett and the other's were located. Oh yeah, that bastard wasn't the only one who had gotten a kiss from Ayre today. Serves him right, the asshole! I couldn't believe him; turning her down flat just so he could take over the world and crap. Sure, good luck with that.
He thought he was so awesome just because he was the number freaking one Digit. Seven is a way better number, and I wasn't turning girl's down after they specifically told me to stay with them. But it was his loss, and that wasn't the point of the mission.
When I got to their little "base", Jett was pacing the clearing they were in, firing questions at Saracen, Racquel, Greyson, and Rhys like he was a general in an army. Perching on a nearby branch, I quietly spied on their group from the shadows. Thankfully no one noticed me.
After talking about ideas to take over the world, Mr. Big Shot finally ordered everyone to go to bed. All curled up there on the forest floor, the traitors were kinda cute--not!
Fluttering to the floor, I morphed into a fox, my signature shape, and crept closer towards the group. Peeking out from the foliage, I stared at just the right angle to see straight up Racquel's skirt.
Success!
And then she moved. Damn it. Realizing nothing else was going to happen, I decided to just sleep there until they actually talked about something that would be of some use to Ayre. Naturally after this was all over and we had defeated Jett, she would realize that I was really her true soul mate. It was just a matter of time.
‡ ... ‡
Who knows how much time had passed before I heard Jett's voice snapping, "Alright everybody, wake up! We've got plans to make."
"Plans?" Saracen echoed, rubbing at an eye sleepily. She kept shifting her gaze left and right, like she sensed something was watching her.
"No, that isn't what he just said," Greyson sighed, although I doubt anyone but I could hear him. Just full of sarcasm today, wasn't he?
Continuing to pace like he did the night before, Jett began laying out the plan, although he wasn't too detailed. "First, Saracen over here is going to create the illusion that the weaponry of the military is going to be inspected."
"Why?" Racquel asked, seemingly bored as she stared appreciatively into her compact.
"Because Rhys will duplicate himself and disable the contents of their arsenal. Once that is accomplished, the government will be thrown into chaos and a global meeting will be called, of which I will be the head of," Jett informed them, finally stopping in the middle of the clearing to think.
"Why would they make you the head of anything?" Rhys inquired skeptically.
Jett was obviously losing his patience after the events of the day before, but he answered the query calmly, "Saracen will help out with that. The plans are still in their first stage of completion, and we'll have to modify them in the future, but I think it's a good start."
A very good start indeed... I backed out of the bush, but not before Racquel turned her dark purple eyes on me, narrowing them until they were mere slits. I nearly jumped out of my freakin' skin as I ran as fast as my fox legs could carry me!
Transforming into a bird, I hurriedly flew off towards where I had come from. Unfortunately, they must have moved to a different location because it took me the next half hour to find where they were. Fhyre was attempting to build a fire (lame pun), Ayre was pacing the clearing in a movement similar to Jett's, Juliet was sitting on a tree stump, and Eternity was... I don't know what the hell she was doing, actually...
"Fox!" Ayre exclaimed when she spotted me. No welcoming kiss as I changed back into my human form, though. "How'd it go? Did you hear anything?"
"Hell yeah! I got their whole plan, right up here!" I tapped the top of my head, smirking. The Number One Digit and his loser followers were going down!
"Yay!" Eternity cheered, jumping up and down.
"Are you positive this information is legitimate?" Juliet questioned from where she was seated. She pushed the black framed glasses up on her small nose and peered up at me. It was like she was piercing my soul...
"No, but at least we have an idea of what they're planning to do," I retorted, crossing my arms. It wasn't like she had done anything important!
"So, what'd you find out?" Ayre wanted to know. I began to tell her the plan, as Fhyre finally was able to create a spark of flame in the heap of wooden logs in the snow.
"The thing is, we don't know when or where this is going to happen, so we have to move immediately before it's too late," I told the others after I had finished telling them the plan, verbatim.
Ayre nodded, resolve evident in her eyes. "Alright, guys, here's what we're going to do."
