Assassin's Creed

I felt the power being drained from my body as Racquel used her power augmentation... Power thingy, to sap my strength. Surprised by my sudden weakness, Racquel was able to push myself off of her and jump up from the ground.

With a dramatic sigh, Fox brushed his hair off his forehead and said, "So it must be my turn, then?"

Racquel narrowed her eyes in response, probably attempting to decrease his shapeshifting powers. Except it was too late for Fox to stop morphing into a wolf, and the result was him flickering back from human to animal form repeatedly.

Pointing a finger towards the blinking image, I began laughing loudly. "You look like you're having a spaz attack!"

Fox on the other hand was getting irritated as his movements were slowed and he was stuck between a wolf and his own self. Racquel scoffed and told him sarcastically, "Looking good, Fox."

"Shut up," Fox growled, deciding those efforts were useless and he'd be better off fighting in his own form. He made a discreet hand gesture towards me instructing me to move behind the eighth Digit, so I did so and immediately felt the power coursing through my veins once more.

Lunging forward faster than the human eye could follow, I wrapped my arms around Racquel's stomach and braced myself to be weakened again. But no way in hell was I letting go now! If she had the strength to shake me off, I was more like Rhys than I wanted to admit...

"Let me go!" Racquel shrieked angrily, clawing at me with her freakishly long fingernails.

"That's not going to work!" I informed her cheerfully, enjoying having the upper hand.

"So, Racquel," Fox seemed fully recovered from his shapeshifting spasm now, "what brings you here?"

"Why should I tell you, bastard?" Racquel snapped, elbowing me in the ribs. I winced, but my hold on her didn't falter.

"Because if you don't, that pretty little face of yours might get a little... Less pretty." At this, Racquel's fury intensified, increasing her now incessant tries to get free. "What's it going to be?"

"Touch me and I'll kill you," the violet-eyed girl threatened.

"Ooh, scary," I muttered, earning an extra-hard elbow in my stomach in reply. Racquel managed to further weaken my powers, but even a normal teenage male would've been able to keep their arms around her, no matter how hard she fought. "Seriously, why'd you come here alone? Did Jett make you do this?"

"Jett? Yeah, like he'd send me over here to kill that little slut Ayre. Wait-" Racquel hurriedly shut her mouth as she realized what she had just told us. So it seemed as if she came over here to assassinate Ayre, but somehow I didn't think Jett would approve.

"Aww, going against your beloved's will? How sweet." Fox's voice was bitter as he became aware that the stakes were much higher now. We had been sent off by Ayre to patrol the vicinity, and had caught a potential murdered. Nice one.

"Be quiet!" Racquel exclaimed, furious. But suddenly her body went slack in my arms, and the world around me turned into an exotic paradise.

"What the..." I started, but a wild tiger jumped out of the foliage and began to chase me. Luckily some of my super speed had returned to me, and I wasn't eaten. But where had a freakin' tiger come from?!

Five minutes later and I was returned to the forest that I had been holding Racquel in. Only one thing was missing. The eighth Digit. The crackle of a branch caused me to turn around, just in time to see a flash of blonde hair. Saracen, the reality warper. I should have known.

"Just leave them," Fox ordered me when he saw me about to go chase after them.

"Why? I just wanted to warn them," I grinned, cracking my knuckles, "About what would happen next time I saw them."

Fox shook his head. "We need to report back to Ayre."

Shrugging, I followed the seventh Digit as we returned to our base. Eternity seemed to have wandered off to pick berries or whatever (hopefully she wouldn't get poison ivy confused with strawberries--you never knew with that girl), and Juliet was no where to be seen as well. Ayre sat, alone, in the middle of the clearing, deep in thought.

As she heard us approach, the pink haired beauty looked up and asked, "Hey, what's up?"

"We just had an encounter with Racquey from Team Evil, and it wasn't very pretty!" I announced, plopping down on a nearby tree stump.

"Racquel? Why was she here?" Ayre inquired, her eyebrows furrowing with worry.

"She said she wanted to kill you." Fox was all business now, none of his usual arrogance evident in his features. Now that is something you can only see once in a lifetime.

"What?!" Ayre gasped. "What happened to her? Where is she now?"

"Saracen came and saved her using her reality warping power, but I doubt she'll be back again." Well, at least I hoped she wouldn't...

"Where's Eternity? What if she's in danger too?" The second Digit ran a hand through her hair nervously as she thought of what might happen to her friend.

"I'll go find her," I offered. When Ayre nodded, I sped off into the forest and left her and Fox alone. I didn't even want to think about what might happen between those two when they were left to their own devices...
