You're Kidding Me

Jett seemed pretty irked when everyone was too scared to speak up at his ideas. Even I couldn't think of anything meaningful to say, which was pretty rare! I shocked myself... When the Digit stalked off with a black demeanor, I decided I should probably follow him to apologize for the whole group. We really were helpless. I was probably the only one besides Jett who was strong enough to carry out this whole operation, I was reliable too.

I stumbled at first, my feet getting tripped up in the long, wiry grass. It didn't help that I was allergic to the stuff, so I already had nasty rashes all up my ankles. Uncomfortably, I jogged up behind Jett, and was about to do my whole apologize scene, but the first Digit's arm snapped out in front of me, and I ran face-first (yes, I am that short, stop laughing) into it and flipped over. Next thing I knew, I was falling head-over-heels in a giant allergy trap. Great. I wasn't even able to see where I was going, so it was completely impossible for me to avoid the giant birch tree at the bottom of the hill. So I ran right into it, my leg crunching sickeningly beneath me.

The whole space around me seemed to shake, and I felt myself blacking out. Fade.

Something kicked me. My eyes opened slowly, and the first thing they saw was green underwear. What?! Struggling to direct my gaze elsewhere, I realized that the foot belonged to the leg of Eternity. The prettiest Digit I had ever laid eyes on. I had just never really had time to notice her. But she was way out of my league, so whatever.

The brown-haired beauty cocked her head to the side and grinned.

I almost expected her to help me up or something, but instead, she pinned my chest down with her foot.

Her glossed lips parted, and she began to speak, but it sounded far away. Or perhaps it was always like that. "I have direct orders from my... Employer to carry you back to our base."

I attempted a weak chuckle. "Oh come on, Eternity, I know that Ayre is your employer, you don't have to talk to me like I'm stupid."

"Oh, you could never be stupid, silly, I'm probably just a teensy bit stupider than you!" The girl was still cheerful, even though she had just totally insulted herself, yet complimented me.

She finally bent over and pulled me up by my wrists. Suddenly, time seemed to slow as she stared into my eyes with a small smile. I wasn't even aware that she was about to capture me. A blink later, I was tied up and being dragged along behind Eternity.

"W-Wait, what's happening???" I squirmed, but my legs and arms were stuck to my sides.

No reply came from the beauty, and I soon found myself surrounded by a bunch of the Digits, all wearing the same evil look plastered on their faces. Fox was the one who stepped forward.

"Do you know what we're going to do to you, pretty boy?" Without waiting for me to choke out a reply, he let his head fall back and chuckled. Mid-chuckle, he morphed into a complete duplicate of me. Wasn't that my power? More or less?

Dang, I could have duplicated myself before Eternity captured me! Man, I missed my chance, I guess. And now, when I was tied up, I couldn't even take advantage of it. Crap dang it.

My duplicate grimaced down at me, and Fox highered the pitch of his voice about three notches, and raised his arms up in the air. "Oooh looky, I'm a little smartass, and I'm going to go save the world now!"

And at that, Fox pranced off into the woods, most likely to take my place with Saracen, Racquel, Jett, and Greyson. Once again, dang it.

Ayre was the one to step forward this time, but I could tell she didn't have the same intent that Fox did, of course. Quickly, she untied the ropes from my legs and arms and forced me up off of the ground.

I steadied myself against a tree, and avoided Ayre's sturdy gaze. Amazingly, she didn't say a word, just sent a knowing glance towards Fhyre, who returned it. Nothing else was said, as the ninth Digit pushed me away from the group.

His strength was an unfair advantage, and I couldn't do anything to stop him from tying me back up against a large tree.

The boy patted me once on the chest. "Now you just stay there like a good little boy, and let us big kids do all the important stuff, kay?" He batted his eyelashes, then doubled over in laughter. "I'm just kidding with you, man! Just don't go anywhere."

This was going to be a long night.
