I got 5 days in a row off since I worked my ass off for the past 3 weeks straight. So I went to my old house where I was born and shimu wanted to hang out so we did, pretty much all weekend since it was a big weekend for him and his friends. I had an interesting weekend with shimu and his friends. It started with us going to see man of steel. It was actually really good, something I never thought I would say about a superman movie. I looked forward to the superman returns movie so much, and got nothing but disappointment(like playing a superman video game =w=.)
After that we went to a put-put course, they chose to do the inside course. I didn't really care one way or another. Just so we are clear I have not been to a put-put course since I was 7 or 8 I think. They didn't even have them inside when I was a kid. So this was totally new to me. This one was pretty cool though, they filled it with black lights. So everything was glowing in the dark. On top of that I also found out how strong I was when I destroyed one of their props. I payed for the damages of course.
The next day we went to an amusement park called holiday world. A befitting name since it is a town called Santa Claus. No bullshit that is the actual name of the town= Santa Claus, Indiana look it up if you don't believe me. Let me see if I remember, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Independence Day, Halloween, They also had a child's area and a water park. The water park is called splashing safari, and I dunno about the kid's area, Mei's not really interested in kids rides, plus we spent most the time in the water park, it was around 95 degrees outside.
They also had free soda which was awesome. I've never been to a theme park with free anything before, and I've been to a lot of theme parks. The food was a little pricy, but with free soda you really can't complain, plus I paid for everything so they didn't complain at all lol. Tons of parking places and all free of charge. They're theme park was also really clean to, usually the theme parks I go to have garbage everywhere, but not this one. They also had unlimited free sunscreen to. I have to admit, I will be going back to that theme park, maybe again before the summer ends, it was definitely worth the trip, and I live in Los Angeles so that's saying something.
We got there and got the kids these ID bracelets, that you write your phone number on. The they told me about these private areas that you pay like 80 dollars a day for, so I bought one and hilarious coincidence we bought the one right next to shimu's older cousin Anthony and his family which were there the exact same day. So we talked to them and then we went back to the amusement park. The private booths were in the water park, which did not open for another hour. We could go there all we wanted but the rides did not open until an hour after the park did.
The first ride we well, rode was called the revolution, I have rode something similar at fairs before. But nothing like it at the same time, at the fair it was an inside ride this one you were out side and you could see the world spinning. I loved that ride it had really really short lines and can hold 25 people at a time so waiting in line did not take longer than 1 or 2 loads of people to get off at most. I had a wonderful time explaining science to shimu's friend, and scaring the hell out of the guy next to me. They had 3 rules for the ride, don't reach for the white bars directly in front of you, don't reach for the wires above your head, and keep your feet flat on the floor. I told him reaching for the bars or putting your feet up, which would stick your knees out, would have the same effect. I told him that he would be pulled out of the gravitational pull which held him against the wall while the ride was moving almost 90 degrees vertically, which would send him flying into the concrete below. If he landed on his feet it would shatter his kneecaps and if he landed on his chest or head it would kill him form that height, or drop him to the bottom of the ride over and over until it stopped and would literally beat him to death. Finally reaching for the wires above him would slice his fingers off or his hands if he depending on how tall he was.
The second ride we rode was called the voyage which was a roller coaster. The line was amazingly short for a roller coaster I must admit I was very surprised, especially since it is the most popular one in the park. According to shimu his friends and the park, it is supposed to be the fastest, tallest, and longest wooden coaster on the planet. It's 163 feet tall and supposed to go 60-80 miles per hour. I have no hang-up about heights or free fall speeds, I started my army career in the 82nd airborne division. I was jumping out of planes long before I was a ranger or special forces. But even more surprising than that was that Mei wanted to ride it with me. She was never tall enough to get on a roller coaster before, and I never even knew is she was afraid of heights. Flying on a plane is a whole lot different than being on a roller coaster, if you don't get a window seat and you don't constantly think about it you barely notice how high you are off the ground because you are in a pressurized cabin, so being in the air don't feel different from being on the ground. But on a roller coaster you can see everything. I grabbed her hand and told her it would be ok all the way up to the top, which for me was about 40 or so seconds, but for her may as well have been forever if she was afraid of heights, but she only seemed slightly nervous since it was her first time, It was the same way for me once upon a time. She was fine and I was so proud of her any doubt or fear of heights vanished.
After that, we went back to the water park since it had finally opened. It was there I found out they had 2 new water rides this year and even more impressive than that is every year they add at least 1 new ride to either the amusement or water park. The first ride we went on was one called the wildebeest a water coaster, needless to say I have never been on or even heard of a water coaster before, so I was skeptical. While waiting an employee asked if would take a survey about the park, which we said yes, after all we had nothing else to do but wait in line. She was very surprised when I told her I came from Los Angeles to come to there amusement park. But I went to Ohio and Florida for theme parks also. I found out lots of things about the park from the survey also, since a lot of the questions were ways to improve it. After the survey we got on the ride and It wasn't half bad to be honest it was kind of fun actually a lot less fun than I thought it could be.
After that we got on this ride I cannot remember the....Girfaika....or something like that, according to shimu it was known as the pilgrim's plunge last year and it was apart of the thanksgiving area. But they put it in the water park and gave it a different name. This was one long ass line, I though we were never going to get on the ride. Finally after I think 2 and a half hours we got on we went up I don't know how high off the ground, I wasn't counting like on the Voyage, I was even more upset that we waited so long for something not worth that long of a wait, but I got over it. After that we went to eat and there were a lot of us and like I said the food was pricy I payed $60 for 7 people. But it wasn't that bad, It was good food just expensive lol.
We didn't go back tot he water park after that, we rode the other 2 coaster the Raven, and the Legend, but they were not as good as the voyage. We rode some other stuff up there for a while until it was time to leave. Close to the park's closing time it started to storm, so they shut down some rides when the wind picked up, and pretty much the rest after the lightning started. I was impressed with they safety drills much faster than the one at the six flags I used to live by. Unfortunately I looked at the weather channel app on my phone and that storm was not ending for at least an hour. It lasted longer than that of course, but that was just an estimate. So We packed up our stuff and left to go home, well back to shimu's house anyway. So that including a hell of a lot of black ops 2 was my weekend vacation so far.
