She looked down, “I’m doing as good as I can.” She said as a tear rolled down her cheek. “I have to be brave for her.” She smiled as she looked at Sakura.
“How’s she doing?” Akina asked with a slight frown.
“It’s hard for her, but she’s doing better now.” She couldn’t help but smile. “I don’t know if she’s forgotten, or if she’s trying to be brave for me.” Emiko smiled with pride and let out a chuckle.
“What?” Akina was a little surprised.
“She’s more like him than she’ll ever know.” She said as some fond memories came back.
“Mama! Grandma! We got these for you too!” Sakura said happily. She her grandfather, Yuki Mihara, get them some.
“Sakura wanted to share some with you two.” He looked down at her and gave her a big smile.

They enjoyed their Ice Cream and then got into the van. They head to their new home. When they got there, Emiko’s sisters were there to greet them. As some of them were helping, there were three of them talking alone.
These three are Yumi Takamoto, Mieko Kuno, and Naoko Mihara. Yume is the third child. She has black hair and blue eyes. She is the one who’s in charge in the shadows. Mieko is the middle child of 11. She has light brown hair and blue eyes. She always has an opinion she likes to share. Naoko is the youngest daughter. She still lives at home. She has light blue hair and green eyes. She’s always with them. She doesn’t want to get on their bad side.
“Finally!” Yumi said with a dark smile. “She’s no longer with him.” She was so happy to see this. She never agreed with the marriage in the first place.
“I hope she’s doing ok.” Naoko said feeling sad it had to end.
“She’ll be fine. Don’t feel sorry for this.” Yumi said with a disapproving look in her eyes.
“Sorry.” Naoko said with a bow. She felt a little sheepish for saying it.
Yumi looked at Emiko, “Everything will be ok now.” She paused and looked at Sakura. “Unfortunately, “That” is still with her.” She said with detest in her voice.
“I know what you mean.” Mieko agreed with her.
“But she’s only a child..” Naoko said trying to easy her conscience as she felt sick to the stomach. The others gave her a vile look that stopped her talking. She was a little worried she may have crossed a line.
“That “Thing” doesn’t deserve to be in this family.” She said with malice. “I’ll make sure she knows it.” A sinister smile formed on their faces. Naoko didn’t know what to do.
They finished talking and walked up to Emiko.
“Why don’t you go and get Sakura’s room ready?” Yumi said with a sly smirk. “I’ll watch they kids.” She said hoping she could.
“Ok, that’s a great idea. Thank you Yumi. I appreciate it!” Emiko bowed while thanking her and gave her a hug.
Everyone went into the house to get the room ready. Yumi looked over at the kids. They were all playing together in the dirt. Her then looked at Sakura. “This will be good.” She laughed to herself. She walked over to Sakura and grabbed her by the hand.
“What are you doing playing in the mad!? You’re not being a good girl!” She said as she raised her voice. She walked Sakura over to a chair and set her down. “Don’t you leave here! You’re in timeout. Do you understand?” The look in her eyes was scary. She kept her voice down just enough for no one inside could hear her.
“Yes.” Sakura replied.
“Yes, what?” Yumi pushed.
“Yes, Yumi-sama.” She said with a bow.
“That’s better.” She smiled despite herself. She then walked back to the other kids.
“Is Sakura-chan ok?” One of them asked.
“She did something wrong, so she has to sit in timeout.” She reassured them. “I have a great Idea!” She spoke in a silly voice, “Let’s all play a game!”
The children were so Happy! She stayed there so Sakura could watched.
Sakura sat there and watched. She didn’t know what she did. She know there was no mud, but she wasn’t going to get into more trouble. She pulled her legs up and put her arms around them. She laid her head on her knees. Tears started to fall out. She cried quietly as she watched. A few minutes later, she cried herself to sleep.
A couple of hours later when dinner was almost ready, Emiko noticed that Sakura wasn’t around!
“Yumi, where’s Sakura?!” She asked with a little bit of panic in her voice.
“I think she’s still outside. She didn’t want to play with everyone anymore and set down on a chair.” She was really acting it up.
“Can you show me where?” Emiko ask, feeling a little better.
They walked over to where Sakura was.
“Sakura!? Wake up silly, it’s dinner time!” Emiko said while laughing.
Sakura woke up and saw her mother. “Mama!” She gave her a big hug.
“Silly, why are you here?” She smiled and poked Sakura’s nose with her finger.
Sakura looked up at Yumi. She gave her a chilling look. “Nothing.” Was all she said. They laughed and walked back to the house.
Sakura learned that day what hatred felt like. She hoped things will be better. Sadly for Sakura, this was only the beginning of her misadventures.

Emiko and Taro Watanabe smiled at each other. Emiko looked down at their new daughter. They can’t hold back the Joy they both feel.
“What should we call her?” Taro asked. Emiko looks at her thinking.
“I want a strong and beautiful name for her.” She said sweetly.
They both start thinking about a good name. Both were having a hard time. Emiko turned and looked out the window. She saw the majestic Sakura trees blossoming. She then turned to Taro with a smile.
“Let’s call her Sakura.” She said gleefully.
Taro’s eyes shined with approval.
“That’s a great idea!” He beamed at Emiko and then at her. “Hello Sakura, I’m your father and this is your mother!” He said with joy.
Sakura opened her eyes and smiled.
“See, I think she likes it!” He remarked.
This is the happiest time of her life. Everyone in the family loved her and was happy to have her in it.
She had so much fun growing up.

Two years later.

It was a dark cloudy day. The thunder was humming in the distance. Sakura was smiling and laughing with her father. She loved her hero. Taro is an amazing dad!
Emiko walked into the room. Sakura looked up, and her face filled with joy.
“Mama!” She said happily. She loved trying to talk. She was always learning new words. She wasn’t able to fully talk just yet, but she tried anyway. She then saw her Mom start to cry a little. She Didn’t understand why. She got up and walked over to her. She then gave her a big hug.
Emiko covered her mouth, trying not to break down.
“Taro, it’s time.” She barely got the words out.
Sakura was clinging to her Mother. She then turned and looked at her Dad. He was crying too!
“Why?” She thought. “Did I do something bad?” She didn’t know what was going on. Taro walked over to her and picked her up. He gave her a big hug.
He looked at her. He was smiling, reminiscing their time together. He put her down and knelt down. He put his hand on her forehead.
“Sakura my angel. Dady has to leave.” He tried his hardest not to cry while talking. “It’s nothing you did, ok.” He was hoping she could understand. “Just know that I love you!” He then hugged her again. He picked her up and handed her over to Emiko. They kissed and her walked out the door.
She was crying and the tears wouldn’t stop. “Pap! Papa, no!” She was trying so hard to stop him! She didn’t know how else to. Emiko just stood there crying while holding her. A while later, Emiko laid Sakura down in her bed.
“We’re so sorry…” She smiled a sorrowful smile at her as she ran her hand through her hair. That’s night the thunder sang a sad song. The lullaby helped Sakura sleep. The next day, Sakura wake up and ran into the dinner room.
“Papa!” She yelled happily! She had been doing this every morning sense she learned how to say it. The table was empty. He wasn’t there. She slowly sank into sadness and frowned. She turned and walked slowing back to her room.
Emiko walked up to her and put on the best smile she could. “Good morning Angel!” She gave her a Big hug! She could see that Sakura could understand what was going on. Even if it was a little.
“Guess what!? We’re going to stay with Grandpa and Grandma Mihara!” She said it with as much joy as she could. She looked at Sakura and could see some flicker of hope in her eyes.
“Hi!” She said happily. She was happy, just a little sad. They got everything ready and headed out.
