Chapter 4-Deception
"You guys want some more tea?" Haruhi asked from the kitchen. "Sure!" Tamoka and I said together. When I was sure Haruhi couldn't hear, I leaned toward Tamoka. "This is going to be a piece of cake!" I wispered. "No kidding! Just wait until we meet the host club..." she said. I giggled in anticipation. Just imagining the looks on all their faces makes me want to die of laughter. But all of that can wait. Haruhi came back into the room and refilled our cups. "Anything else I can get you guys?" she asked. "Oh, no! You've done enough! Thanks for the tea by the way." I said smiling. She sat down. "So...where are you guy's from?" she asked. Tamoka looked at me to answer. No harm in telling the truth about this one. "America. We're here by coincidence." I said matter of factly. Tamoka looked at me like I was crazy. I nodded my head as if saying "it's okay, I got this...". "Really? How did that happen" Haruhi asked fascinated. Took me about 3 seconds to think of a answer. "We took the wrong plane and ended up here so we decided to stay." I said simply before taking another sip of tea. Haruhi began nodding as if everything made perfect sense. She bought it. I'm getting too good at this. "Well, what are you guys planning on doing while you're here?" she asked. This is where things get difficult. "Umm, we don't mean to be a burden but we kinda-" I began. "-need a place to stay" Tamoka finished quietly. We both looked down in shame. That's the only part we hadn't thought through. "There not much room but you could stay here." Haruhi said suggestively. We looked up suprised. "Really?!" we said simultaneously. I thought she was gonna kick us out for sure! "I don't mind." she said nicely. "Then again, I still have to ask my da-" "HARUHI!!" we heard somebody yell. Speak of the devil... "In here dad!" she called back. He walked into the room with two market bags and a purse in his hands. He was wearing a purple T-shirt, a pear of jeans and white sneakers. "I got everything you asked for." he said to Haruhi before he dropped the bags in the kitchen and returned barefoot. When he sat down he finally noticed Tamoka and I. "Oh, I didn't know you were expecting visitors, Haruhi! Who are your friends?" he asked her. "Dad, this is Tamomo..." she said gesturing toward me. "...and this is Tamoka." she said gesturing toward my sister. We both smiled pleasantly at him. He turned to us and put out his hand to shake. "Nice to meet you two! I'm Haruhi's dad. You can just call me Ra-" We cut him off. "Ranka" we said simultaneously. He looked at us surprised. "Nice to meet you, too!" we said smiling. Before Ranka could say anything more, Haruhi intervened. "Um, dad? There's something I need to ask you..." she said slowly. He turned his gaze from us to Haruhi. "Sure, what is it?" he asked. She looked at him nervously. "Could Momo and Moka stay over for a while?" she asked nicely. He looked up as if thinking, then shook his head. "I don't se anything wrong with that...sure!" she said cheerfully. "Yay! This is going to be so much fun!" Tamoka said dancing in her seat, making Haruhi and Ranka laugh. I sighed in relief. Now everything is set and we can make this catastrophe something good while we figure out how to get home. It's all coming together now. My thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door. "I'll get it..." Ranka said as he walked off toward the door. Tamoka and I smiled toward Haruhi. "Thank you so much!" I said "Yeah, you're the best!" Tamoka added. "Aw, it's nothing..." she said brushing it aside. "Oh! Hello boys!" we heard Ranka say from the door. I've got a bad feeling about this. "Dad, who is it?" Haruhi called. "It's those nice boys from your school!" she called back. Tamoka and I looked at each other worried. If the host club is here, then Mori is with them. We'd be caught. I stood and speedwalked to Haruhi. "We gotta hide, NOW." I wispered hastily. She looked worried. "How come?" she asked. I looked at Tamoka who was already up and ready to run. "They absolutely CANNOT know we're here..." I said panicking. She saw the seriousness in my eyes and understood. "Dad! Hold 'em there for a minute..." she yelled as she grabbed my and Tamoka's hands and pulled us toward a closet. She pushed us in and closed the door. "Okay dad! Let them in!" we heard her yell. We heard footsteps as the host club made their way into the room. "This is going to be a disaster." I mumbled.
