♢Noel♢
I just watched two women make out in the center of the room with everyone watching them…
‘You okay Noel?’ I heard Nori chuckle in my head.
“I-I don’t know how to t-take what I just saw to be honest.” I answered back.
‘Hey you’re not talking out loud, that’s a plus! I figured you were going to talk to me out loud.’
“I’m already considered weird, a-and I’ve read enough books to know that I shouldn’t do it." I replied slumping a bit where I was standing.
‘Oh so you like to read?’ Nori was trying to get to know me. That was nice that he was trying. He seemed to be interested in me, and I was the same with him. I was still so over whelmed with everything though that I didn’t know where to start.
Elena walked over to where I was standing alone, away from other students. “I do. I like a lot of different types of books.” I answered as Elena turned and stood facing out towards everyone.
“You okay?” I asked her, I was a bit worried considering that she stumbled walking over here.
She nodded with a light smile, “I’m okay, thank you for being concerned.”
‘You two know each other?’ Nori said with a bit of excitement in his voice.
“um, yes…I mean I’m just starting to get to know her.” I answered honestly.
“How about you? You seemed really uncomfortable with your bonding.” Elena asked me with a bit of worry in her expression.
I waved my hands in front of me, “I-I’m fine, really. Nori caught me off guard and p-personal space thing with not even knowing the person and all.” I laughed a little.
Elena giggled. I couldn’t tell if she was laughing about my actions or if her demon said something to her.
‘Oh tell Eevie that she won our wager for me will you please.’ Nori asked me.
“Y-You two had a wager?! What were the consequences of you losing? I-I think I’ve been kissed enough in one day, i-if those were the stakes!!” I panicked my eyes widening and I quickly looked down at my feet.
‘Oh I wasn’t your only kiss today, which you have a sweet taste to you by the way. But please do tell, who else did you kiss today?’ I could just see the smirk on his face.
I felt my face heat up and I quickly looked up Elena, “N-Nori t-told me t-to tell E-Eevie t-that she won the w-wager.” My heart was pounding so bad. Why was Nori about to get to me so easily? Was it because he was gorgeous and smooth? I’m straight and I’m saying that he looked amazing for a demon.
Before I Elena could say anything to me out of the corner of my eye I saw something coming towards us. I turned my head to get smacked in the face by a flying cotton ball little mint green eyes that seemed to be sticker like and a black string tail with a bell on the end of it.
‘Waaa, Noel catch him!’ Now it was Nori’s turn to panic. As the little cotton ball popped and a little boy that had the string tail with the bell on the end started falling.
I stuck my hands out and caught him. “A-are you okay?” I asked the little thing.
‘Noel this is my best friend Yun. He’s called a cotton puff.’ Nori introduced me.
“Yeah I’m okay.” Yun smiled up at me. “I’m Yun by the way.”
“I know, Nori just told me. I’m Noel.” I smiled and lifted him up so I could get a better look at him. “You’re adorable.” I said out loud and Yun blushed.
“I’ve never been called that before.” His blush on his face stood out against his white hair and mint green eyes.
“Nori’s Never called you adorable before?” I asked smiling a little.
“No…” Yun puffed out his cheeks and crossed his arms.
“S-so are you going to be coming back with me and Nori? To the dorm I mean.” I asked.
Yun nodded, “If that’s okay with you Master Noel.”
“Oh um…j-just Noel please. A-and that’s fine with me.” I said.
“You two seem to be getting along well.” Elena commented with a warm smile.
I smiled back with a nod, “T-the shock of everything is starting to die down. T-to be honest I’m actually kind of excited about it.” I said.
“You to be fairly positive about things, from what I’ve noticed.” Elena mentioned.
I smiled softly as I moved Yun to my shoulder for him to sit down on. “I was always taught to look at the positive side to things…If you focus on the negative it makes it harder to see when someone wants to help try and help. That’s how I was brought up anyways. Take what life get’s you and do your best. Even when life get’s you down, get back up and keep going.” I recited what my parents said to me and my sisters as we grew up.

Noel had a positive look on things. It actually really impressed me. He was so scared in my embrace earlier. Though it was a lot to take in, in a short period of time. The kid just got to school and now it’s bonded with me. I never even offered an explanation as to what exactly was going to happen.
‘Hey Noel can I ask you something?’ I asked breaking the silence that was between him and Elena after he made his little speech.
“Oh uh, sure, what’s up?” His voice echoed around me as I sat there in the middle of a blank space.
‘If Eevie or Elena ask what my full name is, please don’t tell them. I don’t want them to know my last name.’ I said. I couldn’t hear Eevie as she told Elena her full name since Noel doesn’t have as good of hearing as I do.
“Why not? If you don’t mind me asking.” He had every right to question my motives about asking him this.
Before I could answer why Ms. Screens stood up from her seat and clapped her hands twice to get everyone attention. “And that’s everyone.”
Mr. Black stood up at well I felt Noel shake a little. ‘Stand tall Noel, don’t be afraid.’ I said and I felt him start to calm himself down again.
“I can tell that there were some who didn’t show up for the bonding and that there were some here that also decided to not go through with the bonding. That is perfectly fine. For those humans that decided not to go through the bonding we can erase your memories of this event. If you would please follow Mr. Noct he will help you get out of here and take care of your memories.” We all waited for the humans and Mr. Noct to leave the room before Mr. Black continued.
“For the demon’s that were not able to bond with their human you are free to leave. I’m sorry that it didn’t work out. Maybe next year after the humans will be willing to try again.” Mr. Black mentioned and the demons that were standing in their spot when we started turned around and left grumbling to each other. Once everyone was left it was us, the one’s who were bonded that were left in the room with the council members.
“Could you all please step forward and come to the center of the room please.” Mr. Screens, who was probably the best one out of all of them to coax the humans to come forward again said.
I didn’t even have to say anything to Noel for him to step forward. He was focused and determined, I could feel it in his strides. It’s almost as if a switch was flicked on in him and that shy human that was wrapped in my arms not to long ago is gone.
Human’s really are fascinating with how easily they can change. Of course they don’t live as long as we do so at the same time that makes since. Once all eight of the bonded humans were standing in front of the council Mr. Black spoke once more.
“This is very important for you all to know. Once you leave here you’ll be able to see everything that is roaming around that humans normally can’t see. You have to keep the fact that you can see these things a secret, along with keeping your demon counter part a secret from your roommate. For those who are actually roommates it should be a little easier for you since the both of you are bonded. Your job is to keep the humans safe along with keep up with your school work.” Mr. Black leaned forward resting on his large hands. “But be warned if either you or your demon’s start to act out the other’s are responsible to take you down and then you will be brought back here and we will forcibly remove the bond between the demon and the human. Then the demon will be killed. Noble or not, you all fall under these rules. Do I make myself clear?”
“Yes sir.” All the human’s said in unison. Some had fear in their voice at the image that was probably going through their heads.
“There are no second chances here, this is your one and only warning. If you do anything that we deem goes against the rules you will be punished.” Mr. Goodwell added very serious.
“So as you can tell we are putting a lot of faith in you to keep everyone safe.” Ms. Screen’s spoke up trying to break the dark atmosphere that was being dropped down on the humans. “It goes for humans and innocent demons, not all demons are bad as you can tell. So get to know each other, your kind of stuck together.”
“I have a question.” Noel said raising his arm high.
“Yes dear?” Ms. Screens responded to him.
“Have any of you ever been bonded to a human? I-I’m just curious is all.” He was kind of quiet with what he said, but I’m sure that the council members heard him well enough.
“Three out of four of us were. Mr. Black here has transformation magic, like his son Jinx so he was able to transform into a human version of himself and mingle among the humans.” Ms. Screens answered kindly.
“Now if there are no further questions Jinx will take you back to the surface.” Mr. Black hopped in.
We were all quiet and then Jinx hopped down from his seat on the bench and transformed into the human form the humans must have seen earlier and everyone followed him out.
“Nori, you never answered my question earlier.” Noel commented.
‘I don’t want them to know it, because I’m a noble. Just like in your history books when there were kings and queens that ruled the land the same thing is still going on in the demon realm. The Hira clan is one of the older clans that have been in power. There have been many clans that have tried to bring us down from power, but my family is very powerful and proves that we shouldn’t be taken lightly.’ I answered him truthfully. We should have this conversation before any terrible happens or word get’s out that I took on a bonding with a human.
“Oh wow…I didn’t know that there were so many spirits wandering around.” Noel gasped as we reached the surface. I couldn’t help but chuckle a little at how innocent he sounded. This was going to be a very fun and entertaining friendship, as long as I can help coax him out of his shy stage that he seems to be stuck in.
