The scenery around me didn’t change. I was surprised considering that Noel’s consciousness is always at the for front and since I wasn’t forcing anything his mind should have been able to easily been able to take over.
“Maybe he is that tired.” I commented as I wandered around the empty manor once more.
When I turned the corner I saw Noel looking around really confused. I couldn’t help but smile at his expression and I walked over to him. “Hey.” I said in a bit of a softer tone then I normally talk to him in.
“Where are we?” My platinum blonde haired companion looked up at me.
I chuckled a little. “We’re where I live. At least in your mind we are. You must be so tired that you normally don’t dream.” I answered and turned and motioned for him to follow. I let my kimono fall to mainly rest on my forearms like I normally have it. “I can show you the lay out though so you’ll kind of know if by the time you meet my parents.” I said as I heard his foot steps tap lightly on the wood as he caught up to me.
“It’s very beautiful here.” He said quietly as we walked.
“Did you think I lived in some dark disgusting place?” I chuckled looked down at him.
He quickly shook his head, “No no no, it’s not that, j-just from stories that I’ve read and everything I figured that…i-it wasn’t like this.”
“Don’t get me wrong there are plenty of places in the demon realm that are dark, and druid. That only happened because there are still plenty of demon’s that hate and loath humans. They will do anything to get what they want. Even try to assassinate family members from a noble demon family.” I answered as my grip tightened on my kimono sleeve and I tried to keep my face calm.
“Why’s that? That is if you don’t mind me asking.” He questioned tipping he head towards his left shoulder.
“Humans use to be able to see demon’s and spirits back when my parents were still very young. So around 100-200 years or so. There were humans that excepted us demons and then there were other’s who deemed all demons evil and we all needed to be cleansed. What you would call priests and saints. But long story short, a war broke out between the demons and the humans and Angel’s. The angels aided the humans in pushing back the demons. In order to protect the dwindling demons. The six most powerful demons tore a rip between earth and hell. The six demons created clans and ruled over the demon realm. There’s the Yuki clan, they rule over the mountain’s, the Attwater clan, they rule in the depths of the largest body of water in the demon realm, The Honda clan, which my father changed the last name to Hira when he came into be the head of the clan, we rule over the meadows. Akash clan, they rule the sky. There castle rests on the floating hills above the clouds. On clear days you can see it slowly pass by. Then there’s the Nina clan, they rule over the deserts, and finally the Montilyet clan, they have power over the swamps. Though they have been weaning in their control because of something that happened with their daughter. I do not know all the details of that by myself. But by the sounds of it, there may be revolts against the family’s rule.”
“So does that mean that there will be another demon clan that will come to power over the Montilyet clan? There’s obviously got to be lesser clans with in the domains.” Noel suggested. I was surprised that he knew that. Maybe it could seem that the fantasy books that are in the human realm know more about the demon realm then I would have thought.
“That is not necessarily true. The head of the Montilyet clan is ruthless and will kill whoever he needs to in order to get his way. Though he knows how weak his clan in compared to the other clans. The Hira clan is a very powerful clan, though it seems that there is no one who goes against us. I can assure you that there have been plenty of assassination attempts and lesser clans that would try to revolt. But all ended in vain.” I explained looking down at him from time to time.
“Oh, that makes since. Assassination attempts on a higher up family are common even in human history. So I’m not really surprised that there have been assassination attempts on your family.” Noel commented with a nod as we stopped at the garden.
“Then I have a request to ask of you Noel.” I stated turning to face him. He did the same to me. “After you meet my parents in during winter break, please allow me to stay in control for the remainder of the time that we are there.”
“Of course Nori. It’s your family, I don’t want to intrude and I know you would do the same with my family so it’s completely understandable and I completely respect that.” Noel smiled up at me.
I pulled his into me and hugged him tight. After a few seconds he loosened up and hugged me back. “I swear I’ll protect you. No matter what.” I said.
“Thank you.” His were were muffled into my chest, “But we’ll protect each other how’s that sound?”
I chuckled, “Fair enough. I’m quite sure that there are things that you can do that I can’t.”
“Oh which reminds me, what abilities to you have exactly?” Noel asked as we broke the hug and stepped away from each other.
I walked out into the garden. I waved my hand and switched the scenery to the back yard of the dojo. “This is the back yard to the dojo.” I told him. “Your welcome to sit down.”
He did what I said when I turned around to face him again. “Well you know I can teleport and I can also use fire. This also means that when lightning is shot at us I can redirect it since it’s a raging bolt of excited electrons that produce heat. The next ability that is a new signature to our clan is quick heal. In a really long chain of family branches the Black clan which is one of the sub clans to ours have inter mingled with my mother’s clan, so now it is with in the Hira clan. My older brother Ken’Ichi has proved that it’s very difficult to take him down because of how accelerated his healing abilities are. My older sister Aiko has excelled in mastering fire and using her healing abilities to heal her comrades. The ability that I excel at is teleportation. I was able to master teleporting to specific places when I was 50, at the age of 150 I was able to teleport objects as large as what you would call a truck, I can teleport others with me as long as they don’t break contact with me in the middle of the teleportation.”
“So what’s your goal to get to now?” Noel asked really excited.
“I actually want to be able to teleport others with out having to touch them. Though I haven’t had much time to really practice that.” I answered scratching my cheek lightly.
“Let’s do it tomorrow! You me and Yun!” Noel got up from where he was sitting and looked at me determined “Tomorrow we’ll find a place on the campus grounds that is isolated and you can practice.” I looked at him shocked. “And I’ll practice proper edict as much as I can around my homework and us fighting demons. We’ve got this Nori, we’ll prove to your parents that this bonding wasn’t a bad decision. I won’t be a liability to you, we’ve got this.”
I smiled and teleported over to him and we high fived each other with both hands. “Your right, we’ve got this.” I laughed which made Noel laugh as well.
“I should probably wake up now.” Noel said and I nodded he could probably feel himself waking up. I didn’t think that we spent hours talking and walking around the manor, but I guess we did.
He disappeared in front of me and let the manor fade back into the darkness. I think that this was probably one of the best decisions that I’ve made in my life so far. It was nice having more then just knowing that Yun had my back.

I woke up and blinked a few times. With my blurry vision I looked over to the other side of the room to see that Austin was still asleep. So I reached under my pillow where I had my cell phone to see what time it was. It was seven in the morning. But I didn’t feel tired any more. I sat up and looked over to my other pillow that was by the wall to see Yun still sleeping soundly. I got up quietly to not wake him and I got into my dresser and got dressed after plugging in my phone to let it charge and shoving my contacts in my eyes so I could see. I then checked my student e-mail to make sure that there were no new e-mails, then I went and brushed my teeth.
It was good that I was waking up early, I would rather have more of the day rather then sleep in till 9 or 10 and then feel like I’ve done nothing with the day because I slept in so much.
When I got back I realized that I got a text. It was from Elena. I guess she was up too. She must have gone to bed early. I did because well from the events yesterday I was exhausted.
Hey, are you up? Sorry if I woke you. It read.
You didn’t wake me. I’ve been up since 7. What’s up? I sent back then put my tooth brush and toothpaste away to have my phone vibrate on my desk again to let me know she responded.
What were your plans for today? I stood there, next to my desk for a minuet thinking of how I wanted to respond.
I was thinking of wandering the campus grounds today, to be honest. I’m really just waiting for Yun to wake up. And Austin is still sleeping too, so I’m trying to be quiet. Lol. I sent and then sat down opening my laptop once more and I pulled up one of my stories. I was in the middle of a chapter so I had to re read what I have written so far to remember where I was going with it.
I hear you there. Alexa is still asleep. But it’s really nice outside so I’m tempted to just leave Alexa a note letting her know where I went. I kinda want to go for a walk. I read and smiled a bit.
That doesn’t sound like such a bad idea. I would say do it. I would asked to join if I would have been smart and remembered to plug my phone in before passing out last night. I answered and set my phone down once more.
Ah, do I have to remember to remind you of that along with making sure your shoes are tied? Lol. I kept my mouth shut but still chuckled quietly as I read it.
Maybe you should. XDc I sent. I went to start typing and I sat up straight. There was something around.
‘You sense it too?’ Nori said and I stood up from my seat and looked around.
I noticed that Yun sat up on his pillow and was waking up. “No it wasn’t from Yun waking up. I know it wasn’t. It’s something else.” I thought.
‘I know this sent.’ Nori stated and before I could ask about it I felt a hand press against my mouth and an arm wrap around my waist and pull me in to them.
“Master Noel!” Yun shouted at me but then I felt this really weird sensation as the view around me warped and after I blinked I was on top of the dorm building and Yun was gone.
Before whatever was holding onto me could say something I drove my left elbow as hard as I could into it’s side and it let go of me. I stumbled forward and quickly turned on my heals. The man that I was standing in front of had ears like Nori except his were pure white with no pattern in his ears. His matching white hair was longer then mine probably down to about the middle is his shoulder blades when it was down. He had the back pulled up into a small pony tail though and his bangs allowed his piercing orange eyes to be seen. The marking that is in Nori’s ears and the symbol that he placed on my hip was under both of this man’s eyes. He was taller then myself, he looked taller then Nori, by a few inches at least. His kimono felt off his right arm to mainly rest on his forearm like Nori does with his except the left was still on his shoulder and it exposed a powerful bare chest with a wrapped mid section but it was showing his abs. The kimono was blue and black with a detailed design on the corners of the sleeves that I couldn’t quite make out. Though it wasn’t a kimono, if I remember right what he was wearing in japan is called a Yukata.
“You have a fairly strong thrust with your elbow kid.” The man said in a smooth voice that was a fair bit deeper then Nori’s.
“Who are you?” I asked adjusting my stance so I could easily dodge if I had to. I wasn’t weak I knew a fair bit of self defense. So I could try to hold my own.
‘Noel that’s my older brother Ken’ichi. Let me take over.’ Nori told me.
“Chill kid, I’m here to talk.” He said calmly and extended a hand out to me.
“So you call wanting to talk ambushing me from behind and teleporting us to the roof?” I questioned a bit suspicious.
“Yeah I probably could have planned that better.” He laughed lightly scratching his cheek lightly with his pointer finger.
“Are you here to talk with Nori?” I asked trying to get to the point.
He blinked, “Why do you say that?”
“You have the same marks under your eyes that Nori has in his ears. He also told me that you’re his older bother Ken’ichi, if I remember correctly.” I responded.
“Well yes that is correct, but I didn’t just come to talk to him. I also came to talk to you. When word got back to the manor I was curious to know who you were and I didn’t feel like waiting till the winter break for you humans to meet you.” He crossed his arms over his chest. “So what is your name? I’m Ken’ichi Hira.”
“My name’s Noel, Noel Sobel. It’s nice to meet you Ken’ichi.” I said straightening up and making sure that my back was straight and my poser was correct.
“Like wise.” He nodded, “I see your posture is good, you’ll need that mother and father aren’t too keen on how proper edict has become practically non existent with humans.”
“Nori wants to talk with you. If it’s alright with you, I’m going to switch with him.” I said. I was having a hard time trying to keep myself from stuttering in front of him. I always had a hard time with new people.
“Of course.” Ken’ichi commented and I switched with Nori.
“What is the real reason that you’re hear brother?” Nori instantly asked once we finished the switch.
“Oh wow that was really cool to see. You two can switch so smoothly.” Ken’ichi praised.
“Ken…” Nori said with complete seriousness in his voice.
Ken’ichi sighed and placed his hands on his hips, “Alright, alright, straight to the point then. I’ve done some of the snooping around that you asked me to and I can’t find any information on who it is that your betrothed to. I can’t even get it out of mother and father. The only thing that I’ve been able to dig up is that the person is either from a place with eater. But that in the end only rules out three of the noble families that’s including ours.”
“But that still leaves the other three.” Nori said crossing his arms.
“I know that this is something that you don’t want to do. Both Aiko and myself tried to talk mother and father out of it, but you see how well that went. Also others are beginning to talk, they haven’t seen you around the manor or in town. If the two of you can handle it, I would suggest actually coming home before the break, just to put suspicions to rest. The manor has been told to tell everyone that you are ill and bed ridden for the time being.” Ken’ichi continued.
“This week is Noel’s first week of classes though…” Nori sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. “And it’s only been a few days, why the hell are people so fricking worried?”
“Your usually out every day, so I think that’s why the families that normally see you wandering around are getting worried. Also the fact that there are demons in town saying that they saw you go to the council and be bonded with a human.” He stated completely serious.
“Nori, it’ll be alright. I will get whatever homework I need to get done, done. It’s the first week. Hopefully things won’t be that bad.” I told Nori, trying to reassure him.
“You also realize that would mean that mother and father would want to meet Noel, when you come home.” Ken’ichi stated.
“I’m aware of that.” Nori sighed, “Fine, we’ll come home this weekend. But I’m leaving on Sunday in the morning, I’m not going to be the reason why Noel misses school.”
“I’ll let mother and father know then.” Ken’ichi said and stood up straight, “By the way I think you got a good choice for a human to be bonded with. I don’t think that he’ll hold you down at all to be honest. Best of luck with your first day of classes Noel.” He saluted with a smiled and then teleported away.
Just what have we gotten ourselves into?
