Chapter 41: Time to Cheer Up the Girls

♢Noel♢

As I waited for a text back from Elena I cleaned up my half of the room a bit and then made sure what I needed for tomorrow was in my bag and ready. When my phone buzzed I looked over and Yun had already had it in his hand and a smile in his face. “Guess who it is.”

“Give it to me.” I said and went to grab it but he lifted it up.

“I said guess.” He continued to smile as he held me phone over his head.

“Elena.” I answered simple and he pouted.

“Boo your no fun.” He handed my phone back to me and I looked at her text. They were back but they weren’t really happy. I text them I’m on my way and slid my phone into my pocket.

“You coming?” I asked Yun. “The girls need some cheering up.”

“Coming.” He answered and poofed into his little cotton form once again and followed me up to the third floor. “I guess they didn’t have a good time in the demon world…”

“If they want to tell us what happened then they will. I’m not going to push them.” I responded and knocked on the door to Elena’s room.

She opened it and I could just instantly tell that she was depressed. Even through her smile. “Thanks for coming so quick.”

“Of course.” I held my arms out to see if she would hug me and she hugged me tight. I hugged her back. “You have everything?” I asked after we broke the hug.

She went back into the room and slipped her room key into her pocket and made sure she had her wallet and phone. Then she nodded and I stepped back so she could come out of the room and she shut her door behind her. “Awesome!.” I smiled and took her hand in mind and pulled her long with me. “Come on I know I really cool place we can go.”

“Oh are we going where your art professor told your class about?” Yun asked me.

“Yeah, I just wanna stop by my room and get my camera first.” I said as we headed down the stairwell.

“Where exactly are we going?” Elena asked a bit confused.

“You’ll both like it, I promise. It’s kinda like the meadow but a lot bigger.” I answered. There was a place called sculpture park just a few miles walk from the campus. Apparently if you were able to make it through the entire park there was a very beautiful lake at the end hidden away from the world. I kinda wanted to find it, but at the same time I wanted to make the girls feel better. Once I grabbed my camera and strapped it to a belt loop we headed out. “Have a bit of a rough weekend?” I asked looking over at her as I put my hands in my pockets as we walked off the campus.

“Yeah, you can say that.” She smiled sadly at me. “What about you?”

“Well it started out fairly well with Nori’s siblings then his father threatened me. I had to spar with his older brother, passed out for pretty much the rest of Saturday after it, but it wasn’t that bad.” I smiled.

“Are you kidding, Ken’ichi didn’t hold back and when you two found the loop hole and tried to use it Nori’s father shot it down so fast and you were stuck fighting by yourself.” Yun commented.

“Are you okay?” Elena asked sounding a little worried.

I laughed and rubbed the back of my head, “He held back a bit, but I’m still standing so I’m all good. Nori’s father just wanted to see how far he could push me.” I smiled and looked up at the trees above us as we walked. “I mean think I get where he was going with it. His youngest son is bonded to a human, he was making sure that the human had what it took to be considered a part of the family.”

“Oh…” Elena said and her voice trailed off.

“But enough about that. Did you get some girl time with Alexa?” I asked trying to change the subject.

“Oh yeah, it was nice and relaxing. Though it seemed a bit quiet since you weren’t here.” She smiled.

“What can I say I like to brighten up your day in more ways then one.” We both laughed at what I said. “I’m sorry that was really cheese.”

“It’s okay. It was a good one.” She replied.

“Oh we’re almost there.” I perked up and ran ahead a little bit.

“Noel, hey don’t get too far ahead I don’t know where I’m going.” Elena called after me.

I turned around and held my hand up to the sign that towered above me. “Welcome to sculpture park!” I exclaimed. “It’s a huge park where you can interact with the metal sculptures and they say if you can make your way through the park there’s a small lake at the end that looks beautiful during the sunrise or sun set.”

She smiled at me. “Then lets try to make it to the lake.” My face lit up and I grabbed both her hands and pulled her with me.

“Lets have fun getting there. There’s so many different statues here that we can climb on. Let’s forget about everything else and just have fun.” I stated with a huge smile.

I could tell that Noel was still sore but he wasn’t showing it to Elena. He didn’t want her to worry. These sculptures were amazing. And human made these. They stood easily 20-30 feet up into the air for some of them. Others were around five feet in height and They were able to climb onto them. Yun walked with them and Noel showed him how to use his camera. It was simple all he had to do was point it and let it focus before pushing down the button fully then it was take the picture. It was really fascinating even to me. I wanted to play with the thing to, but Yun seemed to be having a lot of fun taking pictures of the sculpture’s and of Elena and Noel as they climbed and posed on the statues.

They were both laughing and having a good time. It was nice to see Elena smile. I hope that Eevie was smiling as well. “Ready Nori?” Noel broke me out of my thoughts.

‘Hm?’ I hummed and then next thing I knew Nori was in front of my and took my hand and spun us around so he was standing in my spot and then he pushed me forward and we switched places. ‘What was that for?’ I asked him and then realized that Eevie was just as confused as I was as she stood next to me.

“We didn’t just come here for Elena and I to have fun. It’s your turn to cheer Eevie up. Have fun. Try to find the lake.” He laughed in my head and I couldn’t help but smile.

“So I guess it’s two for them and maybe a half for us?” I laughed at Eevie.

“They seem to be getting really good at catching us off guard don’t they?” she smooth laugh filled the air around us.

I put out my hand for her to take. “Let’s go.” I smiled. “Like what Noel said earlier. Let’s forget everything and just enjoy the day.”

Eevie laughed a little and took my hand. “Okay, I’ll try.” She still looked upset though.

I spun her in so her back was against my chest and kissed her neck. “Relax will ya. We’re alone, no one’s parents are around. There’s no rules to follow, let’s have fun.” I whispered into her ear and squeezed her hand.

“And what was it exactly that you had in mind?” She asked and I could see a smile start to creep on her lips.

I spun her back out and smiled. “Oh I have lots of things in mind, but I would like to try and beat Noel’s challenge and find the lake before night fall. But I do want to have fun and enjoy the weather and park as we go. How about yourself?” I asked her raising an eye brow.

“I like the sound of that.” She nodded and with out letting go of her hand I pulled her lightly and we started walking together.

I know that we’re both noble’s so there’s got to be a chance where just maybe she is the one that I’m in an arranged marriage with. I wouldn’t mind it at all. No matter what baggage she was carrying with her. I’m sure that I could handle it. If weren’t not then…I’d be more then happy to be friends with benefits.

“Noel, don’t think like that. That’s cheating on whoever your betrothed too.” Noel commented and I smiled.

‘What do you think I’m technically doing right now? And last time I checked you and Elena were helping us with it.’ I mentioned matter of factly.

“Well…I mean…s-shut it.” I could tell with out even looking at him that he was mad red.

‘You started it~’ I stated and jumped up on one of the statues.

Eevie pushed me off the statue and I landed on me feet. “So we’re going to play king of the hill are we?” I asked her smirking.

“Mmmm, I don’t think we are considering that I’ve already won.” She smirked right back.

I chuckled and teleported back up to the top of the statue and grabbed her and teleported both of us off the statue. “Nori, you’re moving too fast.” I heard Yun call after me as he ran to catch up.

I laughed. “Sorry Yun, I forgot that you can’t carry things in your puff form.” I said and let go of Eevie so I could take the camera from him. “You’ve also been in your full human form for a while now so your probably getting tired.”

He nodded and poofed into his cotton form and landed on my head. “I’m going to just lay here for a while.” I chuckled and tucked the camera into my kimono then Eevie and I continued our walk through the park. We continued to have small talk and from time to time I would quickly grab her and teleport us into a tree as there was a human couple that was walking by.

“Well it looks like we didn’t make it in time to the lake for the sunset.” Eevie commented.

“Wait…” I squinted and saw a reflection of light off water. I smiled bright and ran through the trees and came out to an opening and here was the lake. “We found it!” I exclaimed.

Eevie gasped at the sight. “It’s beautiful.” She whispered.

“It is, but I know a few people who are even more beautiful to look at.” I smiled and looked at her. “And I think that Noel would happily agree with me.”
