[UPDATe/Intro] This is my First post here at iDefyn. This is such a fun and wonderful world and I love reading about the many different animes and wonderful characters here. Please allow me to add my own contributions as well. *bows Japanese style*
Also this post may contain some slight spoilers for the anime. Just Thought I'd say something about that. Sorry I had to put this post on a new page due to its long expansive nature.
Johan Anderson as he appears in Yu-Gi-Oh GX
Johan Anderson (Jesse in the 4kids dub) has been one of my all time favorite characters for along time. It isn't just for the fact that I think he's adorable (though that's part of the reason) but its because of how he stands out to me as a character.
I liked Johan (though I knew him as Jesse back then) when I first saw him when he first appeared on Duel Academy's roof when he was looking for his Duel Monster Spirit, Ruby Carbuncle (here's what she looks like in case you're curious). I admired him for how friendly he was to Judai (Jaden in the dub) and how he acted toward other people. And I hate to admit it, but the Southern accent he had in the dub was adorable.
I admire Johan for his kindness, he's polite toward other people, and he treats others fairly and kindly. But you wouldn't want him to get mad. When Trapper stole his Sapphire Pegasus (Pic here). Trapper was a duel monster spirit poacher who caught and hurt them. I'm sorry if that didn't make much sense, but then again neither did the character. But Johan dueled against him to rescue Sapphire Pegasus and he defends his Crystal Beasts fiercely and his friends as well. That's another reason I like him. He defends what he believes in. And that's awesome.
He uses a rare deck given to him by Pegasus (creator of Duel Monsters in the Yu-Gi-Oh anime series) at a tournament known as the Crystal Beasts. They are also Duel Monster Spirits that talk to and interact with Johan. So he regard them as his "family" I've liked them too. They are all used to summon the rare and powerful Rainbow Dragon.

Johan receives the Rainbow Dragon halfway through the third season of GX when the ACademy was taken to an alternate Dimension due to Yubel (I will explain Yubel in another post) and Johan uses the dragon's power during a duel against a possessed Marcel (will explain later) and sacrifices himself and stays behind so the others could go back. That in my eyes made him a hero to me.

Then we later discovered him alive and being possessed by Yubel (a monsterous Duel Monster spirit who was angry that Judai abandoned her and she was jealous of Johan's friendship with Judai to cut a long story short). Judai then duels him to save him. What's sad is I liked the Yubel possessed Johan because he was awesome! And the original Japanese voice actor portrayed him well.
Dark Johan known as "Jehu" by some fans. And I don't know who added the "smexy" text lols.
Needless to say Judai saved him in the end and he returned to normal. And he later appears in the last few episodes of the 4th season of GX. He was awesome there too. He's epic everywhere.

APPENd/EDit: I also wanted add Johan is a fun and wonderful character and he's extremely kind and fierce when he needs to be. Yu-Gi-Oh GX is a great series and doesn't nearly get the props it deserves. It has great storylines and wonderful characters. I hope everybody enjoyed reading this post.
