Surprises & Stuff

I love surprises, especially when it’s a case of me springing them on someone. It’s always such fun and I never grow tired of it, seriously. :p The Silver One: Civil War crew know what I’m talking about. lol And if you’re reading this and going… huh? Get your butt over to OB! Hahaha!

Anyway, summer is coming along nicely since only two classes and therefore two days of school a week; mixed with four day weekends… is utterly fantastic. I’m also into some fun reading courtesy of recommendations from Allamorph. The first one is Wizard’s First Rule by Terry Goodkind. I finished that up and he’s now on my list of favorite authors. I love someone who is detailed and yet walks a fine line of developing characters, plot and yet keeping it real at the same time.

And when I say real, I mean that literally. If you are one of those people who is squeamish… this is not the series for you. There are no half-way measures with Goodkind. It’s beautiful in its own way with that level of being real and in some cases very, very fitting. I am quite serious though, this is not a book for children, so don’t go read it and come crying to me that I didn’t warn you.

I’ve started the second book in the series Stone of Tears and I understand it’s every bit as good as the first one so I’m looking forward to that. I’ve also been reading The Cardinal of the Kremlin by Tom Clancy. Not my usual thing but I’ve definitely enjoy parts of it. I’m close to finishing it though, which is good since I can then focus on the second book by Terry Goodkind instead.

The other thing I’m up to is watching Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo. It’s a show that I thought about watching but never got around to it. Boy was that a mistake, two episodes in and I’m already hooked on it. The visuals are stunning, the story is highly dramatic and engaging and I just love the ending song. Literally. It’s not often that a song has me hooked within ten seconds.

Naturally I had to go and hunt down a full copy of it. Here’s a link to it at youtube. When I say I was hooked within ten seconds, the anime is missing the first 15 seconds of the full version, so it’s the 15-25 segment that grabbed me. Something I know Allamorph will just chuckle at since he understands what type of music gets me. :p

Anyway, that about covers what I've been up to. :p
