..... And I would be wondering why I'm up if not for the splitting headache I have from an allergy reaction to who knows what. I logged out a few hours ago and was planning on going to bed. I got ready and was even drifting off into dreamland when pow! I started sneezing and went from there. So now I've taken some meds for that and until they work, here I am.
Now to get started, which one of you hooligans was talking about me... {is kidding} =P Actually I just thought I'd briefly talk about what happened to the drunk driver that hit the car my friends and I were in back in July. It actually turned out well, or not well if you're the idiot who was driving while drunk.
The thing is, they got 20 years in jail. Now before anyone says, that's not possible, I'll explain. Yes I know that getting a sentence that strict is unusual for drunk driving. Especially when no one died. However, let me tell you about the circumstances leading up to the crash.
For starters, the guy had three previous DUI's that were recent enough that they were weighed into the sentence. In spite of this, after his last jail time/treatment, the first thing he did the moment he was free was go and start drinking again, among other things.
Now here's the deal. He had a girlfriend (both were into illegal drugs such as pot and crack) and a day or two before July 4th, she dumped him. His answer was to get roaring drunk and then go to her place on the morning of the 4th. When she didn't answer immediately, he broke the door down.
Naturally a fight broke out and being out of his mind, he beat the living hell out of her. Even if she is an idiot for doing drugs, at least she wasn't killed. Anyway, then he stole her car keys. He claimed that she gave them to him, but seriously, being beaten like that? She was probably scared that if she didn't he'd kill her in a drunken rage.
So then he takes his stuff and leaves. He's now driving in a stolen vehicle, with a suspended drivers license too. This idiot then causes several near crashes, and runs more than one red light before he finally hits the car me and my friends are in.
Oh and when the cops show up and take him to be treated before being jailed, low and behold, he had illegal drugs with him. Oh snap! So here's how it breaks down when it comes to charges. Just in general though.
- Possession of illegal substances. (he had past charges for that too)
- Driving Under the Influence. (previous incidents of that which makes this case carry a lot more weight since everyone in the car was hurt)
- Breaking and entering.
- Domestic violence.
- Grand theft Auto.
- Driving on a suspend driver's license.
Net result from that mess, 20 years. With the first 18-24 months being rehab for the drug and alcohol issues. Personally I'm just glad they finally did something with this fool before someone got killed. Anyway and since my headache is still here, though it's starting to get better, I'm off to do other things. Later.
EDIT: lolz 3am and posting on allergy meds makes for lots of fun typos. I think I've edited this half a dozen times. And I'm sure I'll find more after I've rested. =P
