I've been listening to K'naan's new CD alot lately and theres a few songs that really get me. If you've ever read A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah (I wrote a post on it a while ago) then you'd see alot of similiarites between the book and the ablum.
Theres one song that really makes me want to cry. Its called Fatima and its about a girl he loved when he was in Africa. The chorus goes:
Fatima,
what did the gunman say,
before he took you away,
on that fateful day? (Fatima)
Fatima,
did he know your name,
or the plans we made,
to go to New York City? (Fatima)
Listen to the whole song. Heres a site:

The whole album is actually really great. A friend of mine recommended it after she bought because we couldn't stop singing Wavin' Flag after our school used for our Vow of Silence campaign (be silent to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves, irony...). By the way, if you buy the album, theres a bonus track remix of Wavin' Flag... just saying. :)
